It's a toll road just as you'd expect.

Cash only toll. Be sure to have cash ready. No debit or credit and No photo system to mail you a bill. Rude cashier lady was triggered when I asked her a question. WV is so boring with no tourist attractions, so this is the only way for them to bring in $$$. This is the first toll on I-77, 2 more tolls to go through.

$12 for a stressful drive through the state. The road isn't the smoothest, and navigating all the sharp 90° curves is a big burden. The speed limit is only 60 MPH, which is very slow for a freeway. Plus, there was a lot of traffic when we drove this southbound. If possible, take I-75 instead. While that's busy and curvy as well, it's no where near the same extent as this. On I-75, you could drive freeway speeds on wider, smoother roads; toll free! Depending on your route, the WV Turnpike may save you 30 minutes, but it'll honestly feel hours longer than I-75.

Extremely rude cashier's. Came through after the recent snow and couldn't read the toll or payment signs due to debris and dirt covering the signs. And we didn't realize it was toll area until after we couldn't turn off the highway to go around. Our Cashier "Raymond" was beyond disrespectful. Raised his voice at us when I handed him my debit card, told us "learn to read" and made a comment under his breath about us being Hispanic. I understand that it's a miserable job, but no reason to make rude and racial comments. This was our first time through the area while traveling for work, but I feel sorry for those that have to endure these folks on a daily basis.
