Very kind staff. Long wait, but it's not their fault. However, you do have to sit in your car. You might as well go home and come back later because they'll quote you a time and it will probably take longer as critical care patients can come in at any point. Despite the craziness they go through, the staff are still very compassionate people. I will say though, they didn't do much of a workup on my cat. Just over a week later, we found out (after an extensive work-up at a different clinic) that he has pneumonia and needed systemic antibiotics! I'm a bit frustrated because I told the staff here that he had a cough off and on but they didn't think it was relevant. They knew he had a bit of a fever as well, but they didn't think it was a big deal.

Told that there is a 4-6 hour or 12 hour wait. How can you expect a person and especially a pet to sit in a vehicle for that long? This is not sensible. We waited for over 5 hours in their parking lot before I could not do it anymore. The front staff shows no empathy to how difficult this system is. Short staffed or not, a little empathy goes a long way.

Terrible, traumatic experience last night at PET ER with my dog. Our boy has a piece of a stick stuck in the roof of his mouth, and so we headed out to PET ER, knowing he’d need to be sedated for them to work in his mouth. We communicated this, as well as that he’d already been given a few trazadone to calm his nerves. We also told him if he needed to be muzzled, we’d need to do it outside the clinic. A vet tech took him in to try and dislodge the stick without a muzzle, and was of course unsuccessful. Then the doctor came in, throwing bits of food covered pills all over the ground, asking us why is he so riled up?? They handed us a muzzle and told us to put it on in the exam room, which we said wouldn’t work.. inevitably the doc did not want to sedate him, but wouldn’t let us put the muzzle on outside. We’d lose our place in line… She came out with another box of trazadone, and when I expressed concern that this wouldn’t do any good, and if she had suggestions, she literally rolled her eyes and repeated several times, “it’s on the label, read the label, read the label.” And condescendingly told us it was our responsibility to get the muzzle on, no way her staff could see him without a muzzle… then why did they try in the first place and further his trauma?? This place doomed him from the start, the stick is still in his mouth, and we were in tears. No help, but a nice fat bill with a side of attitude. We’re currently on the waiting list for Midnight Sun. This place should be shutdown.

While the staff is incredibly friendly, the system that they have in place is in need of revision. You are told that it is a 4-6 hour or 12 hour wait, and if you are not there when they call for you, you will be skipped and not helped. So the patient can wait 4-12 hours, yet you can't wait 5 minutes, or give the patient a heads up when they are next? You expect a pet to sit in a vehicle for that long? Seems incredibly wrong and lazy. Edit: I am changing this review from a 1 to a 3 star review. My pet was seen and as I mentioned earlier, the staff here are super friendly. Discussed with the vet all treatment options and decided on a good course of action.

They don't do that anymore. Good luck finding a clinic with an opening before late September.

Hi I live in a town where we do not have an emergency center for pets, how do I go about sending my pup over for possible parvo? I was told I was able to fly her to PET ER (by herself) and have her treated.

You'll need to make flight arrangements via airline, and then arrange a pick up with express delivery in town if you won't be flying with your pup. Please let all parties know your pup is either suspect for parvo, or parvo positive. There are 2 emergency clinics that are open 24 hours and have isolation wards for parvo pups, midnight sun on Tudor, and pet ER on lake otis and Dowling. Both will take a deposit upon receiving your kiddo, and from there they will make you an estimate for care.
