Public Beach Access 12

Beachgoers looking to experience world renowned Siesta Key sand should note that the sand at this public access point is NOT SIESTA KEY/CRESCENT BEACH SAND. Public Access #12 is now a terrible first impression of Crescent Beach / Siesta Key Beach since dark, hot, coarse, non-compacted, foreign sand has been heavily dumped in the access entrance. Not only has this ruined the naturally beautiful first impression of this entrance to the beach, the dumping of this sand has also made it MORE DIFFICULT to walk through to access the beach shoreline. I would love to know why Sarasota County officials allowed the world renowned Siesta Key and Crescent Beach sand to be covered and tainted with an ugly, inferior sand. I am extremely disappointed with this decision. It was a big mistake. How could Sarasota County allow their greatest asset to be tainted??? My elderly mother has enjoyed accessing the beautiful shoreline in this area for years, but the heavy dumping of sand has made it almost impossible for her to trudge through. IT WAS EASIER TO ACCESS THE SHORE LINE WHEN IT WAS A THINNER LAYER OF HARD-PACKED NATURAL CRESCENT BEACH SAND AND EARTH. This decision was thoughtless and disrespectful of the beautiful natural sand formerly enjoyed in the area of Public Access #12.

This is a pretty tight (and small) parking lot. The city really needs to expand this lot. Get there early or it's full.
