We had an awesome time kayaking. Parking can be a hassle. We were able to find a parking spot that didn't block anyone. We then paid to rent the kayaks (they got singles and doubles) for the whole day. We were taken to the launch point and from there, we just kayaked. We saw lots of jellyfishes. The mangroves were so much fun. It was tiring after maybe 2 hours. Please carry sunscreen and reapply as often as you can because you will be seating.

I was actually just near there on a boat, but South Lido Park is a real jewel. seriously. I get it. You came to go to Siesta key beach, but here there's the same sand, fewer people, and great resources too. It's a fave for sure. oh... LOCALS ONLY!

This is my favorite summer spot in all of FL. The beach looks like a Screensaver and it's close to great shopping and food.

One of my favorite beaches in Florida! Truly a hidden gem and the best place to find so many different types of shells! The park has a huge building with bathrooms and the outdoor shower for washing off the sand. We will be back!

Yes, you can fish here! Many folks fishing on the bay side of the park. I don't know about bait shops, though.
No there is not I am there 3-4 times a week and my husband fishes there all of the time and have never had a problem. At nite no seeums come out and bite but they are not in the water.

There is a launch where kayak rentals set up but never see anything with a motor on that site.

Yes you can rent kayaks and take a group guided tour of mangrove tunnels and the bay...safe affordable and worth it...your guide will teach you how to operate kayak and can choose between 2 sitting styles...it was easy and memorable!
