Its true but i think its only for some gamestops because the one in my area doesnt seem to do that. But selling parts to gamestop im sure you wont get as much as you think. You should google if a gamestop does exchange parts or ask directly if youre still willing to trade parts.
Yes you can trade in your controller for cash or store credit. Amount depends on physical and mechanical condition of the controller
If you purchased the controller warranty and there is no physical damage to the controller, only mechanical, then you should be able to take it in and get it replaced. Just make sure to bring the receipt or the warranty sticker that you were given
