Well, I have mixed emotions about my post. My wife and I visited County Line OBX in June of 2020. We kind of stumbled upon it while visiting the Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge. Bobby Ray Lewis was the owner and the set up was wonderful. Beautiful pond, campsites made kind of a horseshoe around the pond. People were camping, cooking out, kids were fishing it was awesome πŸ‘Œ But now my wife and I just returned home from County Line OBX and unfortunately the experience was completely the opposite. We arrived on Monday afternoon to find the campsite completely empty of other campers. The first thing I noticed was a huge white dog on a clothes line right in front of the house. When I approached the front porch I was surprised to see puppies on the front deck, even more surprising was the very large mother dog that aggressively approached me barking and getting ever closer to biting my leg. Carolyn finally came to the door, she would not put the dog away and asked me to come around to the front door all the while this Cujo acting dog is still acting aggressively toward me. Apparently Bobby Ray is in Florida but still managing the property from there. We reluctantly paid for a two night stay and pitched our tent ⛺️ The port a potties were dirty, there was trash scattered on the North end of the camp ground. Only one other camper arrived during our three day stay. We were very disappointed, this place is such a nice lay out, but it is impossible for anyone especially kids to enjoy it due to the aggressive dogs and the lack of care by Carolyn. I hope it gets back to the way it was a couple of years ago when Bobby Ray was there because there is so much potential. Unfortunately for right now it looks very Shady. I'd be very cautious especially if you have young children due to the aggresive dogs on the property.

Great little spot to tent camp with the kiddos run around fish in the pond. Nice get away from the traffic and crowds of the outer banks and not to far either.

This place is awesome! It is very private, and for the price, you are getting a steal of a deal. The owner is extremely nice, and very down to earth. Her property is gorgeous and really makes you feel like you are β€œout there”. This is …

Good no frills place to camp around Alligator River NWR. Owners are very friendly and helpful, and you are basically camping in their back yard around the pond. Call ahead and just knock on the door when you arrive. There is a fire pit and vault toilet (bring your own TP) and fishing is allowed in the pond. Property is surrounded by the Refuge, which is home to eastern NC's largest black bear population, so be prepared and plan for encounters (I had to shoo away one curious visitor). Was also serenaded by owls and a pack of coyotes. Bug spray highly recommended. There is road noise from Hwy 64, but it's not too bad.
