Representatives in this office horrible!!!
Laurie Ann
The worse social security office ever. I came in to see someone because I keep getting letters threatening to cut off my benefits if I don’t respond. Now that I’m here I have to sit for a hour and a half to see someone. I ask the representative there what is going on and she says there is one person taking walk ins, as if they pick up the phone to make appointments. They are so ridiculous here it’s crazy! Only in the black neighborhoods.

Lack of customer service support & if you have to submit paperwork you will be waiting over an hour & half. This is ridiculous. They need to hire more people

Didn't go to the office... But I just spoke with a very pleasant and professional Mrs. OUM. She patiently and professionally addressed my concerns and queries. Kudos!! Greatest customer service in awhile!🌟🌟

No. They mail it out to you. 7 to 10 business days.
When you go to the office and apply for a new card, (it's free) they give you a printed receipt that has your social security number on it, to use until your new card arrives in the mail.
Phone service. Face to Face by appt only since Covid.
No, not at the moment. You can call and someone will help with your questions. There's 1800 number posted at the entrance.

Legal identification with picture and valid date and I heard them ask for birth certificate, but I didn't need it. Also, just in case, take a utility bill with your name and address. Hopefully you'll only have to make 1 visit to office . I was there almost 3 hour yesterday.

Yes you can. They have a drop box that's open to everyone.
They are not open to the public. They moved everything online or you have to call to make an appointment. But there are no walk-ins.

It’s best to make an appointment. You can do walk-in however if they are booked for the day and what you need requires a bit of work they will schedule you for an appointment anyway, which can be a month or more out.

I believe the answer is No. But you should call to be sure. I am a payee still, for a few people, but it got to be too much, so I made 1 person choose someone else. I went too, and was told I didn't need to come into office. You don't need to notify payee of change. You must go into office with ID and new payee.
When you go to the office and apply for a new card, (it's free) they give you a printed receipt that has your social security number on it, to use until your new card arrives in the mail. Also, they only do replacement cards at the office on 15 and JFK now.
Yes
15th & JFK
Yes. You can be a payee, if YOU don't have a payee . But read the payee responsibilities book.
