Interesting historical site with very little to offer in the surrounding area.

I only wish I could have spent more time at the Charlotte NY lighthouse, which is a museum of period relics, mostly about the Ontario Beach Park from days of old. Interesting. The lighthouse was open for guided tours on a Friday in mid August, 2022 . I waited outside on a park bench in the shade while the keepers got things ready to open. I saw a guy up top of the tower, on the outside ledge, clean the windows of the lantern level. I regret that I wasn't allowing myself more time to climb the tower, and other visitors were coming in, so I got out of the way, headed to Fort Niagara lighthouse that same day, which is not open for tours, by the way.

Please check the website. The lighthouse is closed for the season and will open in April. Call for special tours.
No, the Lighthouse is now closed for the season, we look forward to seeing you all in April 2018
Not really, the grounds are, the lighthouse itself is not. The keepers house entrance is a 4 step. The light tower is a tight spiral staircase. There are information placards around the grounds which are mostly grass and some walkway
