Council Grounds State Park

Is a nice campground. Showers and bathrooms were ok, maybe a little danky but a step up from a pit, if that is your style, they have those too. The park runs along the Wisconsin river which I waded and fished one morning, caught a few smallmouth and had a bite off. Stayed here cause it was in-between a few other rivers and creeks I was going to fish over the coming week. The campsites are pretty close to each other and there is not a whole lot of buffering. Family oriented with lots of kids. Several trails throughout the park were also nice.

lovely wooded campground along the river/lake. The roadway along the river is a lovely walk or bike ride. connect up to the riverbend trail through the town of Merrill and you've got yourself a terrific adventure.

Such a peaceful family campground! Sites have plenty of room. Walking paths are well maintained. Definitely will be back!

Beautiful scenic roadways through the park are well maintained. I love the fishing docs they look like they’d be lots of fun especially if you were catching fish. There are like three or four of them along the trail that starts at the boat launch.
