***To the response: credit is worthless, as we will not return. The 3rd class was my son's second try, since I was sick during the 2nd class. Most likely caused from the little girl, 10ft from my son, that was coughing alot and I realized at the end of the first class, I sat by her mom. Thank you for correcting me.*** I was disappointed with this whole karate program. Our location was in the Lemay Pavilion. My 13yr old was surrounded by, if I had to guess, 4-8yr old boys and girls. My son towered over them. I didn't find this to be proper in the slightest. I wouldn't send my son into an elementary class in school. My teenage son has no interest in being around little children but some just may. Most of the time was spent moving little ones back away from the next. I'm not a kindergarten teacher, but tape with names on the floor would have helped this. We did not know how to tie the uniform, and were told he would go over this. That didn't happen as we were in romper room, and the little ones had very little discipline. My son was very discouraged by everything. We arrived to a second class and I was not allowed in the room to watch. I was asked if I signed in, out of the 5 women behind the table "helping", none seemed to know how. If you were a parent helper you could stay in the room and was offered to be one. I'm confused why they needed so many helpers, as there were 8 or 9. My son did not like any aspect of what was going on and refused to go again. I was not going to argue this with my son, as I wondered if the helpers had background checks. This is the first thing my son has been in, besides camp. My son learned nothing, I paid in full, bought a uniform and am now out $200 with a uniform worn twice.

They were not great. They do not work with the school, nor associated as they claim. Their coaches seemed distracted and less than involved with the children. No team experience. All in all an awful experience for my child and us parents. This was at a St. Louis location. The ladies who checked you in were to busy gossiping (every week) to acknowledge you or your child. They exclude kids without explaining why the child is being left out. Never knew my kids name after 11 weeks.

My daughter and niece have been doing cheer and tumbling with Activstars for a long while (my daughter for 8 years and my niece for 5 years)!!! My son has been doing karate with Activstars for 8 years!!! The coaches/sensei are patient and help them learn and advance!!! They are patient and understanding but they are also firm and set rules!!! It is a program that we love and hope to stay in for a long time!!!
