This guest ranch is a delight, as are the owners. Kara and Brian were superb hosts. They made sure we knew all the sites and happenings in the area, and were extremely gracious and accommodating. The setting was beautiful, serene, and quite private. The daily breakfasts were fantastic. My husband and I stayed 3 nights and hated to leave. We highly recommend!

The serene views at this ranch are to die for. If you’re looking to be away from noise, but still have Wi-Fi, this place is great. The breakfast in the morning was very great. I wish I was there in a clear sky day to see the stars. I’m sure that would have been a spectacular sight since there is no light pollution at the ranch.

This is a perfect place to really unwind. Stunning scenery. Wonderful hosts. Huge breakfast feasts. Healthy and well trained horses. Zero traffic! It's remote in the best sense. We enjoyed a perfect mother/daughter vacation.

This ranch is a wonderful gem. The accommodations were comfortable; there is nice outdoor space, with beautiful views, for each unit; and there is a kitchen area along with picnic tables and BBQs. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the breakfast filled us up for most of the day. We woke up early each day, went fossil digging, and came back in time for the delicious breakfast at 8 a.m. This is a great location and there is plenty to see and do within driving distance every day and the staff will give you information about things to see and do in the area at breakfast.

Howdy Rich and Jan! We look forward to welcoming you to Wilson Ranches and Oregon's John Day River Territory! Wilson Ranches Retreat is nestled in the Butte Creek Valley and is home to a variety of songbirds, upland game birds and birds of prey. Great Blue Heron’s can occasional be sighted on Butte Creek as well. We do not presently have a birding guide on the ranch or in Fossil. Delighted you will be able to enjoy wildflower season in the high desert! Happy Trails! Kara
Howdy Ann! Thank you for your inquiry! Yes, your little buckaroos (4 & 6) can absolutely ride their own horses with us into the hills. Your two-year-old will need to be four to ride. We can get a sitter should you be interested, to allow the four of you to ride together. The Hideout Room and the Homestead Room would both comfortably accommodate your family. We look forward to hearing from you! Have a fantastic winter! Kara
