BASCOM PALMER Eye Institute in Naples. Many of the people at this location treat their patients as "cattle". I complained on one visit to William Smiddy and he had a fit. They sent in a nurse/tech to numb my eye and she deliberately put too much in my eye to where it burned for hours. Stay away from this place!

This facility does not even deserve the one star I'm forced to give it to submit this review. My father is disabled because he is legally blind (determined by doctors at this very institute). He has been coming to Bascom Palmer Naples for several years for treatment. Today the woman at the door rolled her eyes at my father when she learned that he only spoke Spanish. She did not allow me to enter the facility to assist my father to walk in, even after I explained to her that he needs assistance because he is blind. I directed him to walk straight ahead to the counter, which is only 4 paces away. He ended up several paces to the right of the counter for obvious reasons, and the receptionist (who spoke Spanish) yelled at him to move towards her. He apologized and told her he missed her counter because he couldn't see her and she said "If you walked all the way up to the counter, you're not blind." This poor customer service is intolerable. We left immediately. The staff is incredibly dense, unsympathetic, and ill prepared to deal patients that have low vision. What an embarrassment of an eye center. I will never bring my father here again.

Our appointment was at 11:45. It is now 2:09 and my wife has still not been seen. I asked at the desk “what was the problem “? They replied that they were waiting for a technician. I also asked a scheduling person the same question and was told that, to see a specialist, you can expect this kind of delay. My reply was ...”poor scheduling “.

How can I book an appointment with one of your doctors?
I need an appointment with Dr Smiddy. Previously, in VA I had STRABISMUS surgery after surgery for a meningioma around my left optic nerve. I feel my eye has suffered a change in the last three days and my eyeball has receded more under my eye lid. I have seen Dr Smiddy previously and like him. I had a stye in that eye and was treated by DR Alvarez Sep 4. He prescribed an an anibiodic ointmen and stye healed quickly. Patient is Janet C. Menig 10-18-43. TXt
Call the Naples location not the Miami location and request an appointment. Opens at 7:30. It's emergent the ER at Bascom Miami is open 24/7
