Can never go wrong. John and Carol are the nicest people you'll ever meet. Good food in the lodge. Make sure you ask if there's any apple pie aswell!

One star is too high of a rating for this so called “resort.” This place is overpriced, under-kept, and badly managed by very poorly-mannered owners. Carolyn and John Webb, the owners of the property, shouldn’t be in the hospitality business. From the moment my partner and I checked in, they made us feel like we were a nuisance. We asked for ONE extra towel and Carolyn put up a fight for several minutes saying that there’s no reason for two people to have THREE towels during our stay. Anytime we entered the lodge to buy fishing supplies or food (which was consistently poorly made and overpriced) or ask a simple question, they would either ignore us or begrudgingly help us out several minutes later (even when we were the ONLY people in the lodge). Don’t stay here if you enjoy cleanliness. The bathroom sink hot water barely trickled out of the faucet and the shower was jury-rigged from rusty sheet metal. The lighting was so dim that when you closed the shower curtain, you couldn’t see a thing. We had to hang one of our waterproof lanterns in the shower just to see what soap bottle we were reaching for. My partner has done humanitarian trips in Kenya and she said they had nicer showers than this dump. The only nice employee was a young woman named Sarah. We witnessed the owners yell at her on multiple occasions, but she was a very sweet person. We just hope she gets paid enough to put up with their abusive management. The lakes and hiking trails are beautiful, but we recommend finding another place to stay during your vacation.

One of the most beautiful, rustic resorts I've visited. Most importantly, the owner, Carolyn, is incredible. Even though we weren't staying there nor were big spenders, she took the time to help with where to stay, hike and most importantly, where and how to fly fish. She even give me her favorite flies and insisted I not pay! Who does that anymore?

The decore was rustic and amazing, the food was out of this world. The waiter didn't write a thing and remembered three people's orders right down to the muscado and spumoni. Go there if u want to be thoroughly satisfied with a complete dining experience.

No but not as pretty as usual and the record heat has made fishing not so good. This coming week will be cooler but not enough to bring the fish up.

Are kayack rentals available at Virginia?

Big Virginia / Little Virginia & Trumble lakes are enjoyed by the majority of visitors for their undoubtedly Premier fishing experiences. To get the most out of a kayaking experience while visiting this breathtaking region I would suggest a slightly larger lake venue (many options less than an hour away... The drive unveils local treasures and scenery that may give your kayaking adventure some competition when it comes down to your 'what to do next list' ) There are the 'Twin Lakes' just past Bridgeport ( they rent paddle boards and kayaks if im not mistaken ) and south a bit past Lee Vining you can find a hidden town full of energy and youth of all ages surrounding the shoreline of 'June" Lake.. I Hope you enjoy your trip, there are endless trails full of adventure, memories, and happiness that just may cause you to leave your phones in the car!! Enjoy..

Youre better off stopping at Ken's Sporting goods. Before you go up the hill. It will save you a few bucks. As for power bait, you definitely want to have some GULP before you go. He doesnt ever have any.
