1. They yanked the reservation I had made weeks in advance ("we won't have the van for you to rent, after all"), and I only found out about it when I called to request a 2-hour change in my pickup time. Had I not made that call a few days in advance, I would have been stuck at the Avis counter when I went to pick up the van. 2. Changed the rate when I checked-in the day before the new pick-up date. They bumped up the rate by $34/day w/ no explanation. 3. Van was dirty when I picked it up. I had to take the trash to the Avis counter to make sure I was not charged for someone else's mess. This rating would be lower, but the van, other than being dirty, was in great shape, and excellent to drive. And when I opened a customer service request about the overcharge, Avis did issue the refund promptly.

For starters, they gave me a different car (Subaru Outback) than was on the rental agreement (Honda CRV). Calling their customer service is actually counterproductive. They ignore your case entirely. I also learned that the staff at the counter during dropoff has nothing to do with Avis and cannot provide customer service. They are disconnected. A few days later, the representative at the pickup location called looking for their Subaru Outback. I told them the story. They gave me their number if I needed anything. Fact is, they don't answer their phones. Any number they give you to a physical location goes directly to the useless subcontracted customer service line in India. I had to change the dropoff location. I drove the car a total of 1850 miles. When turning the car in, they added 4025 miles to the bill from the other car that I was not driving (the Honda CRV). This changed the amount from $2300 to $4900. It is as if this was their first time doing business, or they were trying to rob my employer. I'm certain it was the latter. I had to fight pretty hard to finally get a phone number to their corporate office. Even they tried to rip me off as much as they could for their mistake by saying "We will take off 1000 miles." I assured them that if they didn't correct their mistake entirely that I would have to report it to my employer, which would quickly result in legal action. It was only after saying that (which was the truth) that they agreed to correct their mistake and charge the proper amount. This merchant was literally trying to commit a crime. I strongly advise trying Enterprise, Hertz, etc. before choosing Avis. They're cheaper to begin with. Only use Avis as a last resort. If you do, be alert to fine print and read the rental agreement carefully. Take pictures, keep any and all documentation and write down the miles on the odometer and compare it to the agreement. Make sure the car they put you in matches the car on the agreement. If you have to call them, you must fight your way to a supervisor and fight even harder to get to the corporate office. Do not waste time with a customer service representative, as that will get you nowhere. DO NOT use the Avis mobile app. It does not provide the information you need to make a decision if there needs to be a change. It will say a certain "final" price and then when you click submit, they nearly double it. Avis is sketchy. BEWARE.

There were used masks in the glovebox & trash under the seats including a big Starbucks cup that you could see when you opened the back doors.

Yes. And they will put a $100 hold on it.
Of course you can tell them to screw off tell them to call the store two blocks away and get you a car I've rented from both and never flown anywhere.
You can return any budget/avis cars to the airport at the budget rental counter even if the car was originally rented at biddle road for no extra cost. It eliminates the need for the shuttle. You park in the budget stalls follow the signs to the rental car parking and it's the last parking lot for budget. Turn the key into the rep at the budget counter with the mileage fuel level and your set to go.
