I ran from NO City Hall to Poydras to Loyola back Poydras and now going back to NO City Hall. This has been an experience. It brought tears to my eye as again I'm doing this all alone. My family doesn't even want the house or property. Just want to sell. 😔😭🙃. There needs to be a better system in place as my Granny wouldn't have been able to travel to multiple locations even if she was still here .

Put on hold three times and after waiting for 10 minutes line was disconnected....If you would put the income maximum for 65 years and older tax freeze that would help with the calls.

The original property owner is given three years to redeem the property.
Well Lance there still needs to be some types legislation, Laws in place to protect lower income home owners who have lived here thur generations, born and raised. This is clearly an agenda to push out the poor, blks and disenfranchised to overtake the city and they've just about accomplished their goal. This is just NOT happening in n.o.la but in every blk/ brown community in this United States. Yes, there's a clear as crystal plan to do "out with the old in with the new", Ray Charles could see this.
Not a reduction. But you can apply for a tax freeze.
At what age to be exempt from taxes
You own & live in property. You bring current unpaid electric bills for years requesting. Photo ID with property address. Then visit Assessors office.
Assassor places fair market value. Now thru aug 15.2019 is time to dispute assessment/value. Bring current appraisal. Home insurance. U prove value if u disagree.
504.658.1300 is Orleans Parish Assessors office. Must be 65 & over with household income less than 77k.
Taxes for the year are due at the end of the year. Tax bills usually come out around October. And you are given until January 31st the following year to pay the current year’s taxes. Since you purchase the house in December 2018, your first time paying taxes should be December 2019.
