This place absolutely sucks. Dirty. Poorly maintained. Staff is poor. Pool never worked. Basketball lights never on. Gun shots were heard a few houses down. Fences torn up and have open access from outside. Gym was dirty with bugs dust & ac didn’t work for half the year. I am currently 1.5 months of not being a resident there & I’m still paying for fees. Save your time and do not live in this dump.

As a long time volunteer at Avery Heights and a daughter of a resident for many years, I am able to give an honest view of life in this exceptional senior community. Avery Heights offers its residents a supportive, caring environment in which programs and opportunities abound. Cultural, social, and physical activities are numerous. Independent life at The Heights was enjoyed by my mother as she was able to remain active in so many ways - volunteering, exercise classes, lectures, social gatherings, grocery shopping with transportation provided - the list is endless! The staff is outstanding in every way. As I now age and look into the future, it will be a monumental task to find a community that comes close to Avery Heights!

I ask myself why is it when someone comments something so terrifying that happened to their loved one, the business comes back with a comments about 5 stars, and we are sorry to hear that. Then do you notice that someone posts 5☆☆☆☆☆s to make it seem all is ok. I thank everyone that posted the disgrace of this facility, it saddens me that you can't trust anyone to care for your loved you. Do you know who I blame😡 the State of Connecticut🤬 for not protecting our seniors. This facility should be watched in many ways. I'm going to reach out to people I know, it's time this place gets investigated.

My wife has been working for Avery Heights Nursing Facility for almost 4 years. She always talks about how wonderful the staff are to the residents and how much she enjoys working for a non profit organization. Even during most challenging of times the staff have all gone above beyond to try to keep things as normal as possible for their residents working long hours and always trying to stay positive. I think it’s important to recognize their efforts since the media has not given nursing homes the kudos these hard working employees deserve. Keep up the good work!

You may want to start with your Town Hall for direction.

Do you bring your own sheets & towels?
