Teenagers will love this place (especially the anomaly room). We paid online before we came (which I would recommend) and signed the waivers. The employees work very hard at this place and were very helpful. As visitors to any place we go, bring a good attitude and some patience. Don’t be in an hurry!! Enjoy the journey, Your attitude makes the trip what it is. We only did one part of the place (as we had other things to do that day. It was a lot of fun!!

I gave three stars only because Professor Finnegan's Old Time Photos was very disappointing. We visited 3 times this summer and really enjoyed the tour and the museums. Each tour guide was awesome! The ice cream and coffee were really good too! The people were very helpful and friendly. The only negative we experienced during each visit was at Professor Finnegan's Old Time Photos. This last visit we had a group (paid as a group) but they wouldn’t let us trade individual shots for a group shot (one bad experience out of three). We witnessed other visitors having similar frustrations and disappointments. The feeling we got is they are about over charging instead of giving a really fun experience. We feel the photos should be replaced with something that fits in with the rest of the experience. If visiting, I would leave out that option.

what causes the anomaly? I have never heard of it before, and I have been to N. Carolina a few times!

RICHARD GASSMANN | Sep 28, 2019

While some of it truly is still a Mystery and there are many theories the most widely accepted theory is related to the large iron deposits in the ground. You can stand just outside the affected area and a pendulum will take exactly the same amount of force to move in both directions but inside the affected area the same pendulum will take almost twice as much force to push one direction as the other. It is theorized that in addition to the earth's gravitational pull there is a large enough mass of iron deep in the ground that you are experiencing a gravitational pull towards it as well. When you visit the tour guides will cover the history and several of the theories and then walk you thru a series of demonstrations that you can then try on your own.
