Never get this company .

Wish I new about this horrible electric company before buying my house. Beware if you do the pre-paid option they charge between 350-500 per month. They will tell you it will only be 4$ a day then charge you 13$ a day. If you go a penny below the pre charged amount they shut you off. Will not turn it back on unless you have 10$ or more in the account. It’s a constant cat and mouse game. Obsessing over having to many lights on and not cooking during the peak hours. (Peak hours are the worst) tripling the amount they usually charge if you use electric between those hours. They are a Monopoly with no other company to choose from. Meaning if you are a single mother or make low on income you will suffer.

My mother passed away and had shares in the company valued at around $340. I brought them the death certificate and they told me I needed to go to probate court to get the proper paperwork and then they would turn over her ownership money to me. I went to the probate court, filled out the paperwork and paid $40 in fees. The probate court then gave me a court order which instructed (ordered) them to write two checks. One check for half the amount to me and one check for half the amount for my sister. This is because my mother's will had divided things 50/50 between me and my sister. In the face of a court order, they refused to comply. They said they could only issue one check and it would be to the estate of my mother. They would not issue a check to me directly or to my sister directly, even though a court order was right in front of them telling them to do so. I went back to the probate court and informed them of MCEC's refusal to comply with a court order hoping to see some enforcement action from the court. The probate court suggested I fill out a different set of forms and pay more fees so we could do it the way MCEC wanted it done. I refused to do this. The court order should be enough. So basically, MCEC ignores a court order, and they still have my mom's money and will not turn it over to me or my sister.

Prepaid option is horrible. The calculation for the service needs to be adjusted and in order to transfer to postpaid it’s a $500 deposit. Customer service is mediocre at best just seems like they are there to recite whatever is on the screen and lacks all empathy. Never had a deposit before Covid-19 and I live in the same apartment complex just changed apartments for reference. Therefore I’m assuming they are charging more to make up for money that was lost during this time which isn’t morally right but what business is these days.

That's funny...we just got power 5 seconds after I pushed send! Well done.
I read an article about them developing their own DSL line. Not sure if it's up yet.
