One of the most interesting and beautiful places on the Connecticut shoreline -- you can see endangered shorebirds, horseshoe crabs, spectacular views of Long Island Sound, the New Haven skyline and surrounding traprock ridges and landforms as far as away as Sleeping Giant. Superb fishing as well (the largest striped bass ever caught in CT came from near here). Please note that dogs are discouraged during bird nesting season.

Sandy Point is a coastal piece of paradise. Home to a plethora of beautiful and endangered coastal birds, it’s gorgeous place to sit and listen to the waves lapping along the shore and get lost in thought.

I think I seen a crackhead pop their head out of the weeds

Yeah it's a public beach but parking is metered. Also it's a bird sanctuary so dogs are not allowed
I believe there is a wildlife rescue number on the DEEP website.
