Definitely, but it could be hard for young kids.

Technically its part if the AT, so it never closes. And there are no parking restrictions at the trailhead. On the other hand, the trail is tricky: rocky and steep. A team had to rescue a group that was caught up there in the dark. IF you are experienced, and IF you are properly equipped, it could be done. But it would be better to climb up in the daylight prepared to stay overnight. There aren't any good camping spits close by, but if you could stay awake thru the night, the view in the morning would be great! BTW, there is a view almost as good across the river on the Peters Mountain section. Just climb the reauk until you reach a flat area on what seems to be the top of the mountain (but isn't really) . then head off to the right, and you'll be there. Not quite as good a view as Hawk Rock, but a lot easier to get to!

It took me and my 9 year old daughter about 1 hour and 19 minutes to complete. Marked it as 2.1 miles as a loop

Yes you can walk your dog very easily. There are two sections of the trail that are rather steep but our dog did just fine on it.

Hawk Rock has trailhead parking on the Southside of Duncannon. Cross Sherman Creek on Inn Rd, turn right on Little Boston Rd then again on Watershed Drive. Just ahead is the trailhead on the left.

I believe so. It can get a bit rocky, and narrow at points, so make sure to keep an extra close eye on your furry friend. 😊
