Great place to camp and affordable. Hiking trails of varying length and difficulty. We did the Angell loop and the blue loop ~2 miles each and involves stepping over trees and uphill & downhill slopes but easy and kid friendly. Beach area is small but clean. People are complaining about mice. We didn't see a single mouse. Chipmunks yes..maybe people are confused?? Or possibly the mice problem was solved with the 11 inches of rain we got last week?? We were here two years ago and also didn’t see a single mouse.

Always have time to go camping there and enjoy.

The campsites itself are very nice and semi private with some tree cover in between each site and a nice mix of open sky and tree canopy overhead. Went in August and there were no flying insects to be found...no wasps, mosquitos, or flies...which was lovely. Due to the tree canopy and wooded area it was pleasant and not too hot. There are port a potties for every 4 sites normally making it not overloaded and easy to get to. There were centrally located showers and bathrooms as well as a boat launch area and small swimming area. It is also not too far from Providence if you wanted to attend a function or Waterfire. The cons: There were mice...lots and lots of aggressive mice. They literally crawled up onto the picnic tables while we were trying to eat and had no fear. They chewed through a fireproof glove, a knife handle, and a variety of other non food items. There is hot water at the showers and about $0.50/2 minutes. I suggest you bring a roll of quarters if you enjoy anything other than ice bath cold showers. The swimming area is tiny...at its deepest it didn't even come to my waist and wasn't very wide either. This was seriously disappointing as it's a good size lake/pond. Also...no floating devices??? It's not deep enough to swim but you also can't have a floatie...yeah ok. No picnicing...no animals...basically just sit in 2.5 feet of lakewater and be happy or kick rocks. They should adjust this or stop advertising swimming area. The entire road system throughout is unpaved and at the time we went it was pretty much washboard roads the entire loops etc. As I don't have an off road vehicle it seemed excessive to drive much. The loop I stayed on was up a fairly steep hill with the washboard dirt roads and it just took away from the entire experience. Conclusion: Being from out of state it was also excessively overpriced for what was delivered. Overall it was barely an ok park and I wouldn't probably return due to the cons listed above.

If your planning on coming here take my advice DONT DONT DONT . Unless you like swarms of mice at your food and feet! Absolutely overrun with them. My mother slept in her car it was so bad. Also if you like a beach with a huge NO FUN sign then this is the place for you! No picnics, no floatation Devices, no balls, no animals, etc….. I’ve never ever seen so many mice in my life!! Bathrooms were gross as well. Save yourself a miserable time. Anywhere else will be better.

You can pitch a tent on any of their sites
No
If there were credible mountain lion sightings RI would have to implement a costly program to save them. So there are no cougars in RI. That's what I was told by DEM when I received my hunting license
I believe the limit is 2 weeks at a time.
They will let you check out the sites and come back to booth to check in
Yes you can just go to the beach for the day.
The roads at George Washington State Park campground are not paved but you can ride bikes within the park, although there is a steep hill near the beach and another steep road that leads up to the new area. The trails are more suitable for hiking. There are areas around the lake that are wet and swampy. Some areas in the Angel loop are very narrow and require climbing/hopping over some rocks and water along the waters edge.
Well a week at least. That's how long I stayed when I went.
I believe you will need to check in and have them add you to their reservation. I've never visited for a day, though
Yes, there is a beach as well as a boat launch
You pay to camp. Out-of-state patrons pay more. Camping is seasonal. This is not camping season. You need to book your trips at least eight weeks in advance. This is hunting season, so if you hike here you should wear no tan, brown nor white. You should wear day-glow orange. This place has miles and miles of excellent trails in boreal forest. The reservoir is clean, swimming-allowed. This place only lacks a view from a high peak. The state DEM map is terrible. You will want to use AllTrails and download a map before you get there (weak cell signal).
Maybe you're thinking of Pulaski park or maybe bodish Lake Campground
Each campsite is equipped with a fire ring. If you are occupying a campsite you can have a fire. Make sure not to bring wood across state lines though
Probably not a problem but you can book on reserve America .
Yes but they are not free. 6 min for $1.50. They are very clean and hot.
Depends on if you have an RV or tent . We like 8 and 34 but we are in a large RV. 27 is desirable and closest to the beach I believe.
Yes
Yes, you have to pay.
You cannot use it unless you stay in the campground, however if you are staying there is no fee to use it
After Labor Day there are no lifeguards on duty, however you can still swim.
out of state campers are $20 a night, they do allow dogs but I think a maximum of 2 per site
There is a website called campsite photos..if you Google it they have pictures of all the sites when you search for this campground
They do 2 per site
Yes there is.
As of 2017 no rentals at the park.
Yes
