The Boston Sax Shop is fantastic! In the initial consultation for the repair on my Conn 10m, the technician I was working with, Frank, didn't try to upsell me or anything and was very helpful. When I left the horn with them it was in very rough condition (entirely unplayable). When they shipped it back to me it played like no horn I've played before! Really great work is done here and I highly recommend coming here for your next repair. P.S. Their reeds are great too

I think it's mainly for aesthetics. Jack, the creator, mentioned he feels no sonic difference between the unlacquered and the silver neck. My guess is it applies to silver as well
