I love colony cats, I have already adopted my 2 cats from here. The staffs are very friendly, they give detail instruction to take care of kitten, gave us some probiotics & extra supplements for our kitty (sunflower). We didn’t change her name because her name is perfect for the way she looks. I love this cage free adoption center. Colony cats should be given more donations, to keep up with this amazing service they’ve been doing.

So I’ve been wanting to write this review for a hot minute. I’m using an account with my name not attached in fear of getting harassed by some of the volunteers since my mother has be harassed by them. So I will never in my life step foot in their facility nor adopt from these people ever again. To start off, I’ll tell this story short and sweet, the owner was good at first when we adopted our dog from them. We never been to the actual facility so we didn’t know Roaming cats there just there. The email back and first never stated to stay outside or even mentioned not to come inside because he needed a few vaccinations still. My parents walked into the building and got SCREAMED AT by the “lovely owner”. To go outside. She said she told us not to go inside… she did not. She was extremely rude and made really rude comments during the vaccinations… outside btw. So after that whole ordeal my mother left a negative review but she still liked the concept of the rescue, it wasn’t mean at all just voicing her experience. Well the volunteers didn’t like that very much, they harassed her and said the nastiest things about my mother in private messages. Saying along the lines of she abuses her animals and they should be taken away from her. So yeah honestly the volunteers are insane. My personal experience wasn’t as bad but still unnecessary. I walked in with a friend and immediately just got stared at, no hellos are welcome. Just mean mugged the entire time. Except one woman who was kind to us but everyone else was pretty rude. They would kind of talk down to me in away, wouldn’t really answer any questions I had ect. I just had nothing but bad experiences from this shelter. I personally never would go back again.

I am beyond pleased with the volunteers and staff of the wonderful organization. They are true champions of homeless cats & dogs, puppies & kittens. I recently adopted 2 littermate puppies & learned first hand the loving attention their rescues receive. Much gratitude to my puppies foster, Kathy A. She is a true pure hearted warm soul. Thank you all!

They do spay/neuter before they release to the furever home. Also do shots and manage any medical conditions. They are very nice and responsive by phone or online. I got my baby there and love them there. Just make sure you know their hours because you have to surrender to the employees you cannot just leave the animal outside.
Absolutley! You can drop them off at the adoption center. Thank you!
Just call Colony Cats and asked what the protocol is for this. They're good peeps.
Hello! We accept cash, check, credit card or PayPal.
We do encourage visitors to the adoption center. We are cageless and the cats and junior cats reside in different rooms/areas. As noted by another, the kittens are in cages in a smaller room so be cognizant of others while in the room. Also, please use the sanitizer provided to help keep our kittens healthy by sanitizing after playing with each kitten. Just be aware that people may be looking to take their new best friend home that day so share the space.
No. You have to fill out an adoption form and get approved before you can take your new fur baby home. It usually takes about 2 business days.
I believe they have a web site perhaps you could message them. I have dealt in the past with a lady up there named Mona. Don’t know if that will help you as they are most all volunteers. Hope you are able to get the info you are seeking.
If they are sick, you need to get them to MedVet or OSU Campus or OSU Dublin for treatment quickly. Colony Cats is not open on Mondays.
We do not DNA test any of the cats in our care but we do have specialized breeds on occasion. Please look at the cats listed on our website to see who we currently have available. Www.colonycats.org
They take in all, but you need to call ahead or contact them first to see if they have space.
Volunteers are required to be 16 years old to volunteer without a parent or guardian. Youth who are at least 13 can volunteer with a parent or guardian.
I doubt they do it for free.
Thank you for asking. We are against declawing of cats and back the stance of the ASPCA on the issue. https://www.aspca.org/about-us/aspca-policy-and-position-statements/position-statement-declawing-cats
Usually right away.
You need to make an appointment for dropping off cats. Call to set up a date and time.
Colony Cats, but call ahead and make sure they're open. They're appointment only.
Hello! We appreciate you thinking of us! If it is a fabric mattress cover for a human bed, it isn’t something we can easily use. If they are smaller disposable pads that go on a bed, then we use those for our foster puppies and dogs. You can drop in the bin for donations in front of the adoption center in Dublin.
Cat Welfare, they are awesome
Hello! We do not adopt our kittens until they are spayed or neutered, which is usually a little after 8 weeks. Kittens up to 4 months are $100 and they are spayed/neutered, tested for FeLV and FIV and up to date on vaccinations. Kittens 5-6 months are $85 and over 7 months are $75. We offer a $25 discount if you adopt 2 cats/kittens together.
I have never adopted from Colony cats.. brought a stray and they took him in off the streets!!! I can't thank them enough!!! He deserves a loving home!!
Hello. Please contact us directly to discuss by leaving a message on our phone system or sending an email. Both can be found on our webpage Colonycats.org.
Hello! We prefer you visit a local no-kill shelter but you can contact us directly via phone or email and leave a message with your details. You can find this information on our website at colonycats.org. Thank you for offering to cover neuter and shots upon surrender!
Hello. Can the kittens be trapped with momma? They will need spayed/neutered once old enough. Then it can be determined if they can be adopted or if they should be returned (feral). Please leave a message at 614-570-0471 regarding trap neuter return and someone will be in touch. We can also assist in building a feral cat house. Some of this info is on our website, colonycats.org.
Please call us at 614-570-0471 and leave a very detailed message as to the situation and if the cat is in immediate danger.
Hello. Please call and leave a very detailed message as to your situation, 614-570-0471. We try to assist in helping pets stay with their owners as much as we can.
Hello Suzy. Please call our main phone number and leave a detailed message. One of our volunteers will get back with you. 614-570-0471
Hello. We are a rescue organization and do not provide medical or preventive care to animals not in our care. There are many low cost options around Central Ohio where you could take your dog for vaccinations. You could give Rascal Animal Hospital a call and see if they are doing a clinic soon. Vetco at Petco stores also has lower cost options for vaccinations. They are open on weekends.
I would encourage you to stop in to the center we have many cats to fit all situations. But adoptions happen every day so you will have to contact our website at https://colonycats.org or stop in to meet your next best friend.
This is an adoption center. They get many breeds, often just part-bred. You eould be very unlikely to find a pure-bred rag doll, which are so valuable that the owner would be more likely to sell rather than turn in at a shelter. But there is always a chance, especially of part-bred. I have found that the part-bred kittens really have the personality of the breed.
The adoption fee for kittens is $75 and includes the spay/neuter of the kitten, microchipping and all vaccinations for the age of the kitten. And there is no price for the loving care they received in a foster home!
Give them a call to see if they have space. If not, I'm sure they will recommend a place. Good luck.
Hello! Please visit our website, colonycats.org, and click on adopt to see a list of our current adoptable cats and dogs. There are also daily featured cats and dogs on our Facebook and Instagram pages.
Hello! We do not offer medical services for cats that are not in our care. However, all cats in our care that are available for adoption are up to date on vaccinations, have been tested for FELV and FIV, spayed or neutered and are microchipped.
Maybe? All cats are different. Prime the box with some waste and put them in it? Plus there are cat litters out there called cat attract that may help also.
you can if they have room! I would recommend calling before bringing them over.
And you should make a sign that says "stop dumping your cats here." Sheesh
They do not pick up. You take them there.
Yes. call colony between noon and 4 today and they will work with you to safely trap them
You need to go to the center and talk to someone in person.
No problem! Glad I could help. If your mama kitty is an outdoor kitty, I recommend getting her spayed. Otherwise, she will keep having kittens year after year, possibly multiple times every spring and summer. This is their prime breeding season. If you don't have the funds to get her spayed, the other option is to make her an indoor only kitty. Either option will not only keep her from having multiple unwanted litters of kittens, but it will give you piece of mind that you won't have to worry about it every breeding season.
Dont call the humans society. They will kill them
Kittens should be at least a minimum of 8 weeks old before being away from the mother. You should take them all up to the shelter together. Colony cats rarely answers their phone. If by chance they do answer, they will tell you they are full. Because they are. Every shelter is full this time of year. You take the chance of taking them up there. Make sure you look up the hours on the website. It's kitten season and people treat cats like they are disposable unfortunately.
I recommend getting the barn cats neutered/spayed to prevent further breeding and leaving them where they are. Take the adults in who need medical attention. Then take the kittens in because kittens get placed faster. Sadly, no one seems to want adult cats during kitten season. They will sit inside an already cramped small building with other cats that they probably won't get along with for a very long time. Basically, you won't be doing them any favors.
They usually put them as pending provided you put the cat's names on the application that's in review. If you did not put their names, then you need to call or go up there to tell them. It usually takes 2-3 business days for an application to get processed.
Call in for an appointment first. And make sure you get a name and don't expect a pat on the back. The reception we received was not warm for rescuing an abandoned cat.
$65 for adults and $75 for kittens. They're all spayed/neutered, microchipped, tested for fiv/felv and vaccinated.
Can you take a stray? We have 2 cats and this stray has taken a liking to one of our cats. I would love to have it but my husband does not. Not sure if male or female and i feel bad when it comes to our door when our cat comes back in. It meows and has a sad look on it's face. We think someone moved away and just left it. No charge I just want it to have a good home
If you get it from there it free with all shots up to date.
