Horrible experience trying to acquire the sacrament of baptism for our son. My family had received all of our sacraments at St. Al’s, been parishioners for decades and because of an address change and lack of response to a solicitation sent to a home no one has resided in for over 15 years, our integrity, faith, and desire to have our child raised in the faith have been questioned. We do not even resided in the area but our family (in particular) our choice in God Parents do, but because they cannot be “found” in the system the parish will not acknowledge our choice of our God Parents for our new church. All of our sacrament documents were found but that also doesn’t make us registered parishioners??? Who knew because people move or relocate your original church condemns you and doesn’t consider you a parishioner even if you attend mass (because you can’t be found in their new system). Well excuse me, I would never think that we suddenly don’t count because the last known address was to our parents home who have since passed away. Having spoken to the Monsignor directly, I can say he was rude and condescending. I would never have been questioned by our family Monsignor. I supposed it comes down to If your weekly donation in hand and if not received regularly then St. Al’s isn’t interested in speaking with you! I’m glad I am part of a new parish that is forward thinking and welcoming to new members of the church. I’m so very disappointed, especially when the Pope has decreed no child will be denied a sacrament. But this situation denying our chose in God Parents impacts our son. Horrible, horrible, never in a million years would I have ever thought I’d be treated this way or spoken to the way I was. This is why the church is losing members. I do not recommend a place of worship that is blatantly a money scam where it’s parishioners are only as valuable as their regular attendance and donations.
