You can get married any day as long as you wait 24 hours after the license is issued

Jean: First thing is to confirm that they were married in Staten Island. If so, you will need to stop into the Bureau and ask for a copy of the license. Bring ID and a credit card. I am not sure how far back their records go but you may get lucky. Good luck!

You don't need an appointment necessarily. Give yourself plenty of time before the closing hours as there are other parties waiting in the office already. A good idea will be to complete the application online before going as you'd save time getting the forms in office from the clerks and filling them there. It saves them time too.
