My favorite place in Brooklyn. It’s a gem hidden in plain sight, and I’m lucky to live close enough to visit almost daily. The walking tours are fantastic, and you cannot go wrong with any of them. There’s always something fascinating to learn. I’ve also attended a seminar (about burial shrouds — the history, practices, and trends) and it was excellent. I will do more of those in a post covid world, along with the Niblo and Open Doors events. I also love the Day of the Dead celebrations. There’s so much great programming here. Check the gate you enter for that day’s closing time, in case it has changed for some reason. The cemetery stays open ‘til 7 in the Summer, which is great. Springtime closing time is 6, and Autumn/Winter is 5. Note: visitors are often restricted on snow days. I’m so thankful they’ve kept all the gates open during the pandemic. It’s really such a wonderful place. GO! But please remember that it’s a cemetery and not a recreational park.

Gorgeous, memorable, great for locals and tourists. Get there! Don’t let this one pass you by! Extra special bonus if you manage to luck into a tour with Marjorie, which was MAGICALLY great. I hope every other tour group is at least half as lucky ❤️🪦💀☀️

Every cemetery has a crying bride legend. There are no ghosts. There is no bride.

Yes, there are a lot of paved paths in good condition. However, some of the smaller paths probably wouldn't be doable using a walker or scooter as they're uneven and not as well maintained.
