Sadly one star review is needed here, we are from out of state, FL to be exact and my fiancés father is buried here somewhere. That’s the real shame in this property. He is buried here somewhere and after trying to find his grave for more than half a day we were still unsuccessful even with all the maps we pulled from the website. We found the section and the rows and still nothing. It was very disheartening, they need to somehow improve the maps to locate loved ones, we also searched for someone who worked there to help and couldn’t find a single staff member or employee to help him locate his father, after a while we just agreed to give up and head home empty hearted.

If you like walking and want a quiet setting, then this is a place for you. The only drawback is that this is a cemetery and if you don't care about the setting then go for it. I walked through there several times and it is a humble feeling to enjoy and appreciate what one has at the present moment. This cemetery has an assortment of headstones and many mausolea, which was very interesting looking at them. I respect the dead and I refuse to take any pictures. So, if you have time in your schedule, take a walk.

It would seem, in this digital age, that ALL the names of person's interred in Calvary would be 'on line' for people to see. My family has had a plot there in Queens since the '40s and I can't find a live person with whom to speak about locators!
There is signage directing vistors to specific locations. Do not count on groundskeepers to assist as they are hard to locate or have limited English skills. Also, you can find the plot, lot and range at the bottom of every stone. Hope this helps.
If you want to inter someone in that plot, you will need a deed. If it is lost, contact the cemetery. You will have no choice but to work with them. You will need to prove your relationship to deed holder. If the cemetery gives you a hard time, contact the NYS Division of Cemeteries or a lawyer (as a plot is treated as real property).
It depends if it was purchased as such. Plots usually are sold in units of two coffins. Also, from my understanding, each concrete vault usually takes up the space of one casket. So, you will invariably lose one space per plot.
No, she is buried Calvary Cemetery in Los Angeles.
Call the office they can get you a map of the cemetery and tell you where the plot is located in the map
Calvary 3
Yep! 930 am - 430 pm pretty muxh everday. There's not much green space in Sunnyside so its where a lot of us go to work out or jog!
Indeed till 1130 am I believe.
My family's deed says 'in perpetuity, bought in 1952
Yes one chapel in old calvary or 1st Calvary
Yes. You can go to the office and they will give you a map with general directions. You can also look for the relevant signage in each section. Once you get to the general range, look at the bottom right of the stones which will also have the info engraved. The groundskeepers may, or may not, be helpful as many don't speak English or want to be bothered.
Not that I know of
Yes, there is a pauper's section. My grandmother is there. It has been years since I have visited. The location was Section 11, Range 31, Plot Q, she was in grave #14 on #15.
You will have to go to the main office with an exact date of burial.
You can call or go visit the main building for information
Call office. Then arrange to install a slanted base so u can add names Do u have deed?
It is a solemn resting place with grieving families and a place for prayer and reflection. Try a local park for your exercise.
I believe that Gate in Queens Blvd is close because they leave the entrance in Greenpoint open until that time.
I believe the cemetery will buy the plot back and give you what your family paid for it back in the day. Some people try to sell them personally
Varies in size, number of decedents and style. You would have to contact a monument dealer for pricing based on budget and style and then purchase a suitable sized lot to accommodate the structure. Keep in mind that a standard stone costs several thousand dollars so you can do the math on a mausoleum.
Yes. As long as they do not encroach on other plots or hinder mowers.
You should call the front office and have them do a search. You also need to have an exact burial date.
If thats the right plot when u get there give those numbers to one of the field workers n they should be able to guide where the graves are.
In all 4 sections 2 million
If you send the location and grave # - get by calling office with date of death and burial date they will give it to you and you can then ask someone who visits # 1,2 oR 3 to take a picture. There is also a find a grave App that people will donthat for you. Good luck
Hopefully the cemetery is not reselling plots and removing remains..... I keep hearing people asking same questions.......
Get death certificate if dont have. Should be on line via a Family search site, pay for it. It will have date of death and burial. Then office can find plot for you.
I know there are two very established monument dealers at the entrance to the cemetery--Riley Brothers and Fasolino. (This isn't an endorsement of either). If she was the widow of a veteran, she might be eligible for a headstone at no cost.
