Let me preface this by saying I’ve been visiting Moravian cemetery for 30+ years because my loved ones are buried here and the care of the grounds is below standard! They have a groundhog infestation and while they are wild life they are destroying graves, I do not come to visit my loved ones to find holes and gifts left that are now gone and buried in these holes. Just yesterday I attempted to visit my FATHER and could not step out of my vehicle because of how many ground hogs were around, they are not scared of humans and can be very dangerous animals. They lay low to the ground and unless you know they’re there you could be in for a not so pleasant experience. My mother can not run when we are greeted by what the staff calls “wildlife” and they can’t do anything about them. Burying my father here was not cheap and now the cemetery is over run with these animals and I can’t even visit my father! Moravian do better! Let’s not talk about what the groundskeepers did to fix the holes these animals have created and to tell me well I’m sorry you lost everything but we can’t help you! How can you not help me the grave sites are being destroyed! We spend money to fix their areas and we come to visit our loved ones and now we can’t because we have to fear the animals at the cemetery! I’ve expressed that when my father was first buried the job looked better then the repair they did on the gravesite! It’s very disheartening that 17 years have passed and I can’t even sit and visit with him because I’m in a rush because a ground hog is staring me down! We are scared to tend to the gravesite because they are all over!

Very nice and serene landscape. They do a very nice job with the grass cutting and general grave maintenance. The older section of the cemetery has huge impressive monuments and family mausoleums.

On Friday, September 2nd, we buried my grandmother who passed away after living a full life of 95 years. After a great wake and services at Colonial Funeral Home & St. Charles, we were mortified once we arrived at Moravian Cemetery. On the final send off our beloved grandmother, the cemetery turned the experience into a nightmare! Upon arrival we immediately sensed something was wrong. THEY DUG UP THE WRONG GRAVE AND PUT MY GRANDMOTHER IN THE WRONG PLOT!!! My grandfather passed 25 years ago and my grandmother was to buried with him. THEY DUG UP A COMPLETE STRANGERS GRAVE AND PUT MY GRANDMOTHER IN THE GROUND WITH THEM!!! Imagine coming to visit your loved one and discover their final resting place has been erroneously disturbed! It gets better when the staff gave us an attitude and tried to rush us off the property because it was a “Labor Day weekend”. Along with my parents, aunts and uncles, cousins and loved ones watches as my grandmothers casket was swung through the air on a crane to be moved to the correct plot. Not the way a burial should be, that’s for sure. If you’re considering Moravian Cemetery…. Be very careful and diligent

I'm sorry but I've never been there, all i know is that it's on Richmond Avenue in the New Dorp area of Staten Island. There is also a church there called the Moravian Church
