I don't write bad reviews but with many disappointing visits to this place I can't help myself. The very first recommendation I will give is find another hospital. Unless it's life threatening it's worth the extra drive to go somewhere else. I've had my own bad experiences here that I let go but this one isn't about me. This one is about my son. My dear wife reached out to me while I was at work to let me know our son had an eye injury at work. She took him to Silverton Hospital ER since we live here in town. He went in and was seen pretty quick which was great. Doctor looked at his eye and said he thought it wasn't anything serious. Decided to do a CT scan. After that said it looks like he might have ruptured something in his eye and needs to see a specialist ASAP due to building pressure. Said go to Salem hospital right away. Even recommended taking an ambulance to get there quicker. He was shortly after discharged and my wife drove him to Salem Hospital. They checked in there only to find out from the ER doctor there that there is no eye specialist and they were not sure why Silverton sent him to Salem. They said we need to take him to Doernbecher in Portland. They also said they were not sure why Silverton didn't send him to Doernbecher right away. Thats where the only on call specialist is available. At this point we are furious. Here we are concerned, for good reason, and these so called medical professionals are sending us on a wild goose chase. What a waste of damn time with these guys. Now after making two useless visits to ER's they are heading to Portland to hopefully finally get some answers. Health care has become an absolute joke. Nobody can provide any kind of answers and send people from one doctor to the next but still have no problems collecting insurance payments. I've had similar experiences at this hospital in the past and told myself at that time I will never go back. I think this instance has officially cemented my decision to never have any members of my family as well as myself to ever come back to this hospital. Truly disgusted with this place.

It’s only getting a 2 star for the sheer fact silverton hospital is way cleaner then Salem however staff and doctors refuse to listen to their patients and they don’t manage pain well… came in for a bad infection in my foot and told them tylonal does NOT help me with pain, it never has and they wouldn’t give anything or even consider. I came in one time with a bad rash on my hand and they (the nurse) had to apologize because I diagnosed my rash myself and the dr thought I was crazy til she agreed with me on what it was… I think I’d have better luck staying at Salem.

If you want long wait times, not cared for, discriminatied against and then brushed off. This is the hospital for you. Update, I went in with hypertension and chest pains. Charge nurse refused to take my blood pressure at regular intervals. Left me to sit in a room none of my regular meds no help for black out pain and vomiting. When I was discharged I asked who was in charge as they were not actually giving care in the er . Asking the charge nurse who she reported to got myself flagged by her as violent. This ruined all of my care as my team thinks I'm violent now and doesn't want to. Instead of getting help this day I ended up loosing my care team. Top it off I did get a doctor to actually look past this. Turns out I had a bad infection in my blood and inflammation in my heart. This hospital refused to do anything then flags people who don't just take the fact they are being nelegtful. You go to emergency care for help. Not to be ignored. I encourage anyone who went in also with chest pains and ignored. Reach out to paitent relations (Angie) via the formal complaint form. Because doing this in December to me I filed all formal greivance and people are still reporting chest pains are ignored by this emergency room. This is not okay.

I worked in Advertising in Boston in my younger years and I remember a pitch we did for a local health plan. The ads premise was that even though something may be routine to the doctors, its NOT always routine to the patient. …
