Best resource I have found in Jacksonville
Hi There
UPDATE AFTER denying people food, I live to see them now distributing the food on the weekend by drive thru and don’t even request any information. WHAT A TURN OF EVENTS. It seems no one was going there and now all that food is spoiling so they need to get rid of it soon. Another hack pretending to care for the community. I’d be very aware of the “feeding America” charity. I now understand that this is about their “nonprofit” getting an even bigger tax break. They collect so much information from you. They want your kids birth certificate or immunization record, your id(which is fine by me), lease bill, pay stub if working and if u live with someone they have to write a letter for you stating that you do and sign it. I’ve only seen this at the FEEDING AMERICA places. They are giving away almost expired or expired things and THEY ARE NOT DOING IT TO HELP THE COMMUNITY, it’s for their own profit. They turned away two people who were already there and because they were not in the zip code they service. HOW IS THAT OKAY? ITS FOOD. They said they have to go to a zip code servicing center. SHAME ON YOU!

They are open Monday through Thursday. You will have to make an appointment over the phone. They will ask for the size of your household and everything since it's your first time.
You have to call them around 9-9:30 am Monday thru Thursday. They usually answer around the 5 ring because it's volunteers who man the phone
If you're not comfortable with English, they have someone who speaks some Spanish most of the time. Or if you prefer, you can stop by on a Monday from 9:30 - 12:30, which is usually when I go and I can collaborate as an interpreter (even by phone) 🙂 Call or stop by to see if they can help you despite the language.
Yes it's once every month. They won't really will shirk you away if it's under 30 days. But it can't be more than once a month.
I'm sorry Deborah but I'm not exactly understanding your question. I don't know if you're seeing that Library box in the picture and thinking that may have something to do with getting the food I'm not sure but I'll tell you this, go to the place and you register. They get your name, address that type of singing how many people are in your home because of course denote how much food you will get. Usually they will give you food on the day you register and then after that you make an appointment to come back every month. They give a lot of food, there are frozen meat, cans of vegetables, usually some type of fresh fruit sometimes you even get the pre-made meals that you just have to cook. Also if you have a dog or a cat sometimes they have food for them as well. Now that box that is in the picture is a library, like a take a book leave a book type situation. I have read and given many many book. I hope I've answered your question but if I have it please don't hesitate to ask anything.
You have to call for appointment
They close at noon and are closed fri,sa,sun. I'm pretty sure that you can go anytime and get a bagged lunch I hope this has been helpful.
Calling first, between 9AM and 11AM, Monday through Thursday, would be a great way to start. Ask them what you need to have to help them help you.
