I had lower back surgery in May (2021) followed by a weeklong stay in an inpatient rehabilitation hospital. Upon being discharged, I needed to find an outpatient facility to continue physical therapy. God led me to Spine & Sport Institute (SSI), and I am overjoyed with my progress. The friendly, knowledgeable staff made me feel right at home from Day One. When I arrived in early June, I was barely mobile and required a walker to move around. This was a difficult experience for someone who doesn’t have an AARP card yet! With expert guidance, I began making progress right away. Step by step – literally – I achieved milestone after milestone. In the six months since, I have regained my mobility and improved both my overall strength and flexibility. One thing that appealed to me from the outset was SSI’s use of the McKenzie Method. I had a cursory understanding of the approach having dealt with lower back pain for 20 years but never spent the time to learn more about it. I wish I had, because I’m certain I could have avoided surgery (and all the other invasive therapies I previously underwent) altogether had I implemented the rather simple techniques earlier. I can’t say enough about the wonderful people at SSI. I’ve worked primarily with Kelly and Marjorie but also with Darren. Each is a truly caring professional. Most recently, Marjorie has helped fine tune my pelvic alignment. To my utter amazement, I can literally see and feel the difference after each session. When I was a kid, I watched "The A-Team" on television. Every episode began with the following narration: “If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire... the A-Team." Since 1988 I have been looking for a PT who works like a PT should. Bernadette is hands on, knows her stuff, happy to educate about your problem. Here they treat you as a whole. Not like every other PT office. Here they take time to Listen and offer help. I’m going to miss Bernadette. If i need PT agin I will be back to any of the gifted PT’s here.

I feel enormous gratitude for the work I did with Marjorie, on a herniated disc. After trying many different approaches from traditional PT to emotional work over 20 years, I was skeptical to say the least. And yet, within 8 days my herniation was no longer a problem — and this was without any drugs or surgery, and with work I mostly did on myself. There’s still post-work to do healing the secondary issues around that herniation and some of the imbalances that may have led to it in the first place. But I used to wake up with anywhere between a 2 and 6 of pain, and those 6 days I would know were ruined in the first minute of being awake. It’s been 4 months now and the pain has never hit a 3. Remarkable! I owe you enormous thanks Marjorie!
