“Bear”ly Rustic Cabin Rentals

Is this place shut down. Had reservations for cabin. Called and e-mailed for a month with no answer. Had to cancell our trip because we didn't hear back from them. Also took my 200 dollar deposit.. anyone else have this problem. We have stayed with them many times with no problems.

According to the Visitors Center in GSMNP this business has been closed since about March of 2020. Most of the cabin owners apparently removed their cabins from the rental program. Unfortunately many families, ours included, are now out 100's of dollars in deposits and rental fees without warning. We did contact the TN BBB and were informed that since Bearly Rustic is no longer a company there is nothing they can do.

We have been staying in their cabins for years and have never had a problem. Not sure why all the haters. Every experience has been a positive one. If something did go wrong (like an animal that crawled into the attic), the issue was resolved quickly and politely. We love Bearly Rustic and we hope they never close!

We requested a cabin so you can imagine our shock when we drove up to a home for sale. At no time were we told it was not a cabin or told it was For Sale and could possibly be shown during our stay. Upon our arrival we first commented on how tall the grass was. The lawn care did arrive on Sunday and mow approximately 1/2 inch of the grass. The back door of the home did not lock so we propped a chair against it. The bathroom downstairs did not lock nor did it have a faucet in the bathtub. Well it had one but it was lying in the tub. In one of the upstairs bathrooms the sink did not work. The ceiling fan over the downstairs bedroom was somehow propped with a clothespin which did not make those sleeping under it very comfortable. There were no pans at all in the kitchen. We did not locate the bench for the dining table until our final day when we realized it was the coffee table!! Therefore, we were unable to partake in meals together. We had to ask information on garbage disposal as this was not provided. The list could go on and on but the most upsetting thing was the call about the showing of the home. We got the call about 9AM. We were already somewhat embarrassed in regards to the problems of the "cabin" and did not want to tell our guests about the showing. My husband and myself went through the home doing what we could to make it in order. We ARE on vacation and were a bit relaxed in our housekeeping. The showing was between 5 and 6PM so we took our guests out of the home for 3 hours and entertained them at our expense, changing our grilling plans and spending extra funds. The showing of the home was truly absurd. We have only had one other rental in Townsend that was this bad and it had rats in the attic. We are extremely disappointed in Bearly Rustic Cabins, their false advertisement and their "home showing".
