Ok, I just finished putting a precision rifle together with premium parts. Had a prefit proof barrel done by strait jacket armory which is absolutely beautiful btw. They do amazing work! Back to rk. I needed someone with go and no go gauges just to make sure headspace was good before I shot it. ( I should have bought my own). I took it to him and he inserted the no go gauges and when it had resistance he forced the bolt closed!!! I about lost it with him. As you are only checking for slight resistance and forcing it closed can actually dimple the chamber as the gauges are hardened steel and barrels are actually fairly soft. I called up strait jacket and they were astounded and confirmed that he shouldn't have jammed it shut and being a gunsmith he should have known that. He was nice but he also lacked knowledge of the precision rifle industry and didn't understand what a prefit barrel is. I would highly recommend someone looking for long range precision or benchrest or anything in that realm to look elsewhere. Even for checking headspace.
