*This review is for Kaweah Health Lindsay Clinic for Behavioral Health.* I was very specific about seeing a Psychiatrist. They scheduled me with a Nurse Practitioner instead. Her name is April and she is not a Psychiatrist. I found that out on my own. My experience with her since has been unprofessional, unfriendly--with a very cold demeanor and plainly out of touch with behavioral health. Incompetent and overall disappointing. The best thing I have done for my mental health is walking out of my appointment today (7/20/22) and cutting ties from her toxicity once and for all. Kaweah Delta, excuse me, Kaweah Health, you can do better--much, much better. When patients ask for a Psychiatrist, give them a Psychiatrist. Simple enough. If you don't have a Psychiatrist on your payroll, be upfront and let the patient know so they can make an informed decision. On a side note, the Lindsay location is obviously in need of a facelift. The building is...well, outdated. It's a mental/behavioral health clinic after all--please put in effort to make it a pleasant place to walk in to. Along with April, the receptionists I have come across in person and talked to on the phone have no pulse--no joy and no interest in what they do. They made me feel that I was a burden to them for simply showing up to my appointment. You get a heavy dose of apathy as soon as you enter the building. The ambience of this clinic is very unwelcoming, outdated, uncomfortable and yes, depressing. Again, walking out of this place today is the best thing I have done for my mental health. KH do better...you owe it to the community you serve to do better with your talent selection. And for anyone thinking of going here, listen to your gut. If something about this place doesn't feel right, best thing to do is get up and walk...walk and find a different place to get help. I believe that there is help somewhere out there. I am certain that there are health professionals who show up to help their patients and care about their wellbeing. But you won't find that here at Kaweah Health in Lindsay, CA.

Excellent staff; RNs, MH staff, including Guards. I only had one bad experience with an RN during my 8 or so days, and perhaps she was just having a bad day. (Very understandable with some of the patients there, WOW!!) One of the other RNs liked to compare opinions on various shows on Netflixs and other films and tv shows we had seen, plus recommendations to each other, on the one rare day of her 3 day shift she had a little time to breathe. She also had never had an opportunity to talk to anyone who had experienced Electric Shock Therapy or some time back changed with Shock replaced by Convulsive. I understand perfectly why it is policy not to allow any mental health staff to meet, etc. with any former patients with MH issues. However, is it possible to meet in the safety of the hospital, at the discretion of the RN in this case of course. There are some very dangerous men there, some of which i met there. In fact, while I was there, a every loud female scream was heard throughout a large section of the hospital from a small room there. Obviously, a male patient did something very wrong to one of the female MH staff. Immediately, all the MH staff plus guards who heard the scream instantly dropped whatever they were doing and ran as fast as they could to her aid. Don't know any details, of course, but we patients in the area across from the activity sure we're surprised and curious about it. Also, locked in, perhaps. Anyway, the Bing map i was given befóre going to my new housing was very flawed.

Don’t actually do anything to help their patients possibly leave them with more trauma very rude and dehumanizing

You can always sign yourself in. Good for you for recognizing you need help. You may need to go through the ER.

Can a person come in voluntarily

Beverly White | Sep 26, 2019
Eric Hodson | Sep 26, 2019

No, they have to be on a 5150 hold. The best thing to do is go to Kaweah Delta Hospital and check in for a Mental Health Evaluation. A Tulare County Crisis worker will arrive and speak to the individual to determine if they fit the criteria to be sent there for treatment

Why would staff release a individual from care when the individual is clearly in need? The only reason i see is because he's is not private pay insurance

Jon Burtlow | Sep 26, 2018

Yes they do release folks early I believe. I had to take my son back to ER to have him readmitted. That was not easy for me to prove he still needed more treatment. Fight for resolution and don't be silent squeaky wheel gets the grease.
