Easily accessible, very manageable, and family operated, Heinz Orchard is a gem located practically at our doorstep. It’s the only remaining “pick-it-yourself” apple orchard in Lake County. It is well run and very family-oriented. I saw …Thank you so much for the incredibly kind and thoughtful review. It was my pleasure speaking with all of you and I hope to see you next year!

About mid-September. They usually post the last week of August with dates per variety. As per their website, You can purchase a 1/2 peck bag (holds approx. 6lbs) $10, or a 1 peck bag (holds approx. 12lbs) of apples for $20. You buy the bag, then fill it with the apples you pick. Bring cash.

My family is thinking about coming and we were wondering if the apples available for picking are organic or non-organic.

I don't believe they are certified organic, but i can attest that their apples are delicious!

Why hasn’t Heinz farm updated their phone message saying they are closed for the season? It still says this is their last day for picking - pretty disappointing for someone driving kids all the way there

Susan Syriac | Nov 14, 2021
Heinz Orchard (Owner) | Nov 15, 2021

Hi Susan, I'm sorry you drove all the way when we were closed. Our phone message was not updated, but the message did say "today is Friday, Oct. 15 and it is our last day of the season" so hearing that on Saturday would still have indicated we were closed. We changed the message today. After we closed on Friday, our Facebook and website did clearly state (and still do) that we are closed for the season. It's always good practice to visit our website directly for days of operation/hours and definitely not a third-party site (google, yelp, etc.) as they don't always have correct information. Anthony, Heinz Orchard
