Do not adopt a cat here. Staff knew there was a ringworm outbreak and still let one leave. The whole family had to be quarantined plus paying vet and dr bills and miss work. Shameful!!!!!

Just heartbreaking. Overflowing with animals so if you're looking for a new furbaby-go! Needing cleaned but runs off of volunteers. Only thing can complain about--we went to drop off an app for a little dog that they said the day before no decisions were being made in it for 2 more days. We showed up right after they opened to be told she'd been adopted out already. Very frustrating for us. Word of advice NHS do as you say and say as you do.

The animals are checked out by a vet. For health and neutered. All the animals I have adopted were healthy and vaccinated. You will not go wrong getting a pet there.
Go to their website and see if they list their fees. They list their hours, that way you could talk to their staff about your situation, to meet your needs for your pets. They're extremely helpful and pet lovers !
Yes. If you adopt your pet from them it will be micro chipped. That is included in the adoption fee. If you already have a pet they will micro chip for a small fee.
On holidays we are closed, the staff's time at the shelter varies. We recommend bringing the items the day before. If you do plan to drop them off the day of - please let us know in advance at what time so we can plan to pick them up.
Yes. Volunteers are welcomed to visit any time during our public hours.
We welcome volunteers of all ages to help socialize and exercise the cats and dogs. Those 13 years old and young, do need to be accompanied by a parent or adult. Learn more on our website at https://nodawayhumanesociety.wordpress.com/volunteer/
Yes, we can use flat sheets, blankets, towels, etc. You can leave donated items outside the front door or visit during our open hours.
The New Nodaway Humane Society is a no-kill shelter. Euthanasia is only considered in extreme instances. 1) if an animal is deemed too aggressive and is a danger to the public or 2) if an animal is injured or terminally ill beyond reasonable treatment that ending it's suffering is more humane.

Yes, it is roughly $30 total. $20 dollars for bringing it in, and $10 for care while it is in the shelter.
