Wanted to edit after a reply was posted- yes I am sure it was your shelter. I grew up in the valley & only know of the HSOIC & Dee’s, both of which I had volunteered at occasionally. I even still have emails from when I took one of the kittens to the vet 2 days after picking him up because he had a respiratory infection. My heart breaks for the staff here and their constant struggle. I try to help when I can financially with donations which isn’t very often but I know It’s appreciated when I do. I will mention, if you ever plan on fostering or helping out, make sure you can commit to it. I tried to foster some kittens one time and after a couple of days I was just so sick from being allergic to them that I had to take them back, & they weren’t very nice about it. (I didn’t know I was severely allergic, we never had cats so I was never around them long). One of the Facebook moms that apparently donate & try to help, Anna I believe her name was, last name started with a D… jumped down my throat too, & sent me numerous pages of paragraphs on Facebook essentially calling me a POS for taking them back & not fostering & giving me alternative options I could’ve and should’ve done instead of taking them back.

Great staff

Hello. We do not perform declawing on cats. Declawing cats can actually have some very negative side effects on the cats health and temperament after the procedure is done. We highly recommend having the cats nails trimmed regularly or using Soft Paws (nail covers) instead.
Hello Denise. Our spay and neuter prices have recently gone up since veterinary expenses are on the rise. Our current fee for spay/neuter is $75 per dog or cat.
If you are needing to surrender a pet, please call our office during business hours to speak to a shelter staff member to see if we have room. Due to the abnormally high demand for people wanting to get rid of pets lately, we are extremely limited on space and it may take several weeks or months for us to fit in specific types of animals. If we do have room to take the pet in, there is an $80 owner surrender fee.
Go and take your picture of your dog in and see if they might have it.
Hello, If you are asking if we take in owner surrenders, then yes we do. But due to the recent extreme overcrowding in our shelter caused by the overwhelming number of local pet owners wanting to get rid of their pets, we do have a waitlist for people to turn in animals. The expected wait time is about 6 to 8 months. If you would like to be placed on the waitlist, please call the shelter during business hours.
The Imperial Valley does not have any emergency veterinary services. The nearest emergency animal hospital is Foothills Animal Hospital in Yuma, AZ. 928-342-0448
You will need to contact Animal Control in the city where you live.
You would need to contact Animal Control for the city that you found the animal in. We do not accept animal afterhours as staff is not at the shelter after hours.
Unfortunately we are unable to take in any surrenders due to the abnormally high demand of people wanting to get rid of animals recently. Right now our shelter is extremely overcrowded and we have zero kennel space available. Our suggestion would be to contact rescues and shelters outside of the Imperial Valley to see if they might be able to better help. Also, the best and fastest way to get a hold of our office would be through placing in a phone call.
Please contact Animal Control for the city that the dog is in. We are unable to take in any surrenders for the time being due to extreme overcrowding and absolutely zero kennel space available.
We are only required to retain records for up to 4 years. Unfortunately far too much time has passed in order for us to give you an accurate answer.
Yes we do. We currently have a rabbit listed on our Facebook page as Pet of the Week.
Unfortunately because we are not a veterinary hospital we are not able to do vaccinations for the public’s pets. You will need to make contact with one of the local veterinarians.
I recommend you go with Ms. Dee. She has her animal shelter about 2 blocks before The Forrester Road ... E goes X all the Adams Ave. And go ahead switch to Evan Hews hwy. The place is called.... "Man's best friend" is on the left of the road. Please do not give them away, because there are bad people who only want to torture them. Ms. Dee accepts them just call him 1st. And if you can give a small Donation X please 🙏🙏🙏
In person.
We do microchipping everyday at our office during business hours.
Unfortunately we are not able to take any more cats at the moment as we are about 100 cats over capacity in our cat kennels and have no room. There may be rescue groups and other shelters that we suggest looking up online in the San Diego, Los Angeles and Arizona areas. Please do not set them free. Pets that are used to being taken care of by people usually will not resort to their wild instincts and may not know how to find food or shelter for themselves, and it can become a life threatening situation for them. We are so sorry we could not be of more help.
Please make sure to immediately make contact with the Animal Control Officer for the city that this dog is in so that they can go to the location to check in the dog.
We do take in cats, but unfortunately we do not have any room for adult cats as all of our cat kennels are completely full. We require that kittens go directly into a foster home for their health and the only 3 fosters that we currently have cannot take in anymore kittens.
No this is a no kill shelter only veterinarians euthanize animals and even so most refuse unless the animal is too sick
We charge $80 to perform private euthanasias for people’s pet who are suffering from extreme illness or injury when treatment is not an option or the animals will not benefit from treatment. You will need to call during business hours to speak to a staff member to answer a few questions, and to schedule an appointment.
You will need to contact animal control for the city that the dog was found in.

Unfortunately we are not able to take in any cats from the public for the time being as we currently have over 200 kitties at the shelter :(
