“Farr Less Toppings” should be their new slogan! I’ve been loving their Brownies on the Moon for years but it seems as though the company is being skimpy on the brownies as of late. I purchased a 1 gallon tub and made sure to count the brownie pieces to make sure I wasn’t imagining things. I counted 5… yes, FIVE brownie pieces in an entire gallon!!!! To put into context, if you get 20 scoops in a gallon that’s 1 brownie bit (the size of a single piece of Cap’n Crunch cereal) for every 4th scoop!!!! You can’t really call it Brownies on the Moon if you aren’t even getting 1 brownie cut up and added to the mix. I’ve decided to start making my own “Brownies on the Moon” by purchasing a cheaper competitor’s gallon of chocolate ice cream and combining it with marshmallow fluff, cut up brownies (yes plural) and possibly some pecans as well. As for the other Farr Less flavors, I’m pretty sure they are being cheap with toppings as well. I’ll be sure to buy the less expensive competitor brand in similar varieties to be certain I am not disappointed in the future.

Burnt Almond Fudge ice cream is getting harder and harder to find these days. Farrs Burnt Almond Fudge is the BEST! Nice and rich, like fudge (duh), with a smooth toasted accent! Love the stuff. I would love to see it in more stores nationwide.

We have a 3-gallon container of Root Beer ice cream available at our manufacturing plant, but that is the only size available. We are located at 2575 S 300 W in Salt Lake City, UT, open Monday-Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm.

Thanks for your question, Robert! At this time we are only making our pineapple sherbet in 3 gallon containers, which our scoop shops use. You can either come into our manufacturing location and get a 3 gallon or you can ask one of our Farr Better Ice Cream scoop shops to scoop out a smaller amount for you to take home. We do sell Russells soft serve mix in gallon jugs. They come in a case of 4 and you can get them frozen or fresh.

Yes, we do make Black Licorice ice cream. You can get a scoop at one of our scoop shops or purchase a 3-gallon container at our plant (2575 S 300 W, SLC).
It looks like we probably discontinued that flavor sometime between 2004 and 2009. Ususally this hapens due to lack of interest and sales in that particular flavor.
