No one seems to work during scheduled business hours anymore. Can't seem to get a answer about needing a permit to enclose and or extend my front porch along the front of my house. It's frustrating trying to get ANY answers for the city government

This has got to be the most dysfunctional government dept. Their website and portal are convoluted at best, and customer service is none existent, as not one person answers the phone. They should be given an award for least competent and least helpful government in at least the state of Utah.

For a contractor to apply for a building permit, their website is a perfect example of government ineptitude. Not even the DMV can be less accommodating. No wonder folks don't bother getting permits.

Don't know the womans name that was on the phone but that was the worst customer service I have ever experienced. I was patient and understanding while trying to recieve help on something give never done before and she was snippy and treated me like trash.

To apply for a building permit go to www.slcpermits.com and complete an application. From there you'll need to upload drawings on Project Dox for plan review. All permits can be done electronically to reduce wait times in the office.
