Stopped by a couple of days ago. The gate was open, even though it said closed on the state website. The lake is nice, but the facilities are trashed. Weeds overgrowing picnic grounds, trash bags and even appliances dumped in the parking lot. The restrooms were in horrible shape, water turned off but people were using the restrooms anyway, very disgusting! Trash throughout, all sinks were vandalized and in pieces all over the floor. Very sad to see a state park that was allowed to degrade to this condition. At this point, I wouldn't feel comfortable visiting with my family until California state takes responsibility to fix their state park.

I've lived in the area for over 20 years and we didn't even know that the lake existed in our backyard. That's what happens when you're always commuting to work. Needless to say, I found this lake by chance when my grandsons came to visit …

The lake is always different when you come. Never ever disappointing or boring. lake is large and is great for tubing and riding a jet ski or opening up your boat.

It's a great camping area! I visit this campground place 2-3 times per year!! Peaceful enjoyable, away from the city!!

Yes. I've gone twice in the last 3 weeks. It was very nice & clean. Don't forget your face mask, sunscreen and sunshade. If you get there early enough you shouldn't have any trouble finding a picnic area with trees up on the highland. Enjoy urself & Stay safe
Hi Gustavo, yes BBQ is available so is camping, there is a river and a lake about a quarter of a mile. Our favorite spot for many years already.
Yes. We were fishing all day there the week after they stocked and not even a bite. Tried everything from powerbait, salmon eggs, mice tails, mini jigs, panther martins, kastmasters, pistol petes.. Extremely slow compared to surrounding area lakes.. Modesto reservoir has much better trout fishing as does Yosemite lake by the canals that feed the lake. At the moment the inlet to turlock lake is your only chance of fish..save the 12 dollars and avoid state park..
Even though its posted right up front that the boat launch is closed, people have been launching boats anyways for a couple weeks.
It is the back of Turlock Lake so people do launch there boat there just backing up into the lake
Very safe to swim Not many people go there anymore because they don't allow alcohol
I'm not sure did you check the website
Some campsites are by the water..others are not, there is a playground. And yes, it's safe for a toddler, with supervision.
Just about every lake river and pond below 5000 feet in elevation in California have catfish in its water. Its a colder lake though so look for warm parts of the lake
Can't get help,to many government handouts
This lake is closed till further notice.. contract to manage the park expired and suitable new management has not been found yet... FyI place is run down, little to no lighting and the water is always moving alot faster/stronger than it looks..
Yes.pretty busy on the weekends but cleaner than other lakes around here

Yes it is. It closes everyday at sunset.
Tina Cain could we camp out there and for how long? Is there stores near by?
I haven't seen any signs reading or indicating low water
The inlet is the section lots of carp for soup only, trout ,better check Walmart for flashy lures tha get the trout's attention ,my deceast pro bass fisherman only fished for black bass very sporting and tasty as well as striped bass ,he didn't fish at turlock lake verry stinky by inlet marshy area lots of foul bugs not good for your dogs or vehicle thats the long and short of it I go aloft and stay away from the foul sections
Everybody must be out of the park 30 minutes prior to sundown
From what I understand it's first come first serve.
Bounded on the north by the Tuolumne River and on the south by Turlock Lake, the recreation area provides an ideal setting for water-oriented outdoor activities. The recreation area features the lake with its 26 miles of shoreline and the foothill country leased from the Turlock Irrigation District in 1950. Picnicking, day-use, and boat launch ramps are offered at the lake. Overnight visitors are welcome at the 66 site campground located on the shady south bank of the Tuolumne River about 1 mile from the lake. https://www.parks.c Features: BOATING Boating Boat Ramps OVERNIGHT FACILITIES Family Campsites Hike or Bike Campsites RV Access TRAIL USE Bike Trails Hiking Trails DAY-USE ACTIVITIES & FACILITIES Picnic Areas Exhibits and Programs Fishing Interpretive Exhibits Beach Area Swimming Nature & Wildlife Viewing Windsurfing/Surfing Family Programs Geocaching OTHER FACILITIES & VISITOR INFORMATION Parking Restrooms / Showers Restrooms Drinking Water Available Wheelchair Accessible
