1.5 - maybe 2 Stars = Not worth the money or the wait. The BAD I had the $20 fish and chips and it was worse than Ms. Paul's frozen fish sticks. Worst ever. Just fries and 3 old Fry grease laden saturated old filets inside a thick sponge of a crust. I choked down one. the fries were ok. Just ok. But the taste of the filet ruined anything else. I should have returned it and gotten something else but I would still be sitting there as everyone left the restaurant. Not worth $3 for this awful meal. I am a fish and chip connoisseur. This was a travesty for a seafood restaurant. the GOOD However the Salmon my mom had was great. But the star here was the Mussel appetizer. Definitely the highlight. Sweet and garlicky broth served with bread to dip. Excellent to superb. THE UGLY My Dad had a $48 steak that was tough and the knifes couldn't cut butter. dumped on a plate with just fries. Presentation is lack luster at best. He sawed away at it as we held the table from shaking to give him stability. Atmosphere: Sunset is stellar here - you are paying for the location for sure but this was one of the worst premium real state dockside restaurants I have been too in awhile or ever. Verdict: If it isn't busy - which it always is because of the location. Just get the Mussels and go somewhere else for the main course. or Hard pass. Hit or miss - Too many misses to make it above 2 stars.

I made a reservation for 7:30 for the same day I called and was pleasantly surprised that I got it. I told the person who answered that it was a very special day - our 25th anniversary, the Silver Anniversary - and we'd like their best table with a view. Again, I was very happy to get it. We arrived in Port Jefferson early and called them to see if we could get in earlier; they said no, they were booked up but come anyway and sit at the bar for a drink. We took a chance and came at 7:00 and again were happy to be seated at a table then. We picked this restaurant because their online menu had lobster and scallops entrees, which we love. After being seated and looking at their menu we discovered those dishes weren't listed nor available. We asked, they said they JUST changed to new menus 2 days ago and hadn't yet changed it on their website. We were really disappointed but OK, ordered other acceptable entrees. Our waitress was highly apologetic. Of course it wasn't her fault management failed to keep their site menu current. Our view was OK but due to blinds on the adjacent window it was somewhat obstructed. Our drinks and entrees came and we enjoyed the meal. The food was delicious, the service very good. But a neighboring table wanted the blinds to be completely CLOSED because the setting sun was in their eyes; the staff complied but so then we had NO VIEW. Again, disappointed. After clouds obscured the sun I asked for the blinds to be completely drawn up, which the server did and the unobstructed view was lovely. Too bad we had nearly finished our meal by then. But the food and service were so good and the full view FINALLY was open to us, we overlooked all our disappointments for our special dinner and left a nice generous tip. If the menu had been updated to show there was no lobster nor scallops we might not have gone to this restaurant for something special. So, 3.5-4 stars.

So Let me preface this review by saying I give it 3.5 stars, I rounded to 3 because the food is Nothing to write home about. There are two different choices at the hostess station- the dock for apps and drinks along the rail with barstool seating or the main outdoor dining waterside deck. We chose the deck dining area. There’s inside dining too but it was a hot sunny day so we sat on the deck shaded by umbrellas. Our server was very nice and took drink orders promptly. Then we ordered Fish and chips($20) a grilled pineapple salad($17) and Stuffies($15 or so) . Beer was cold and my wife’s cocktail was quite strong. My issue at Wave has always been the value of the food on previous visits ,and this time Under new ownership I believe , this problem persists. Everything here is pricey, period. It will run you 80-100 dollars for lunch for two easily. I long for fresh Cod fish and chips but alas it was a frozen product , a little too perfect and over battered for homemade. I was unable to tell if it was in fact COD and it Was a bIt greasy as well .Shoe string fries were good and not greasy. This is not the only seafood place in town serving frozen fish and chips , which is disappointing for a Seafood restaurant. The grilled pineapple salad is composed of crisp greens pineapple and goat cheese and longs for perhaps another ingredient, lightly dressed and fresh tasting . At $17 if you add a protein you’ll double the price. We didn’t- a 35-40 dollar salad is a big much. Lastly we tried the stuffies . 4 cherry stone clam shells stuffed with a seafood stuffing . There was no discernible or identifiable seafood but they tasted very good , once again short on value at the price. Overall ,you are paying for the dockside atmosphere so expect to pay . We are hoping for a better food experience here in the future but for now we’ll have to settle for the view, And continue our search for fresh fish and chips.Give the customer a better value and the experience is an easy five.

The salmon was very good. Ordered it medium rare. Also sweet potato fries + marshmallow dip 😍 Calamari was also great.
