I’ve been going to the shelter for a few days recently and visiting a dog of interest today at 3:30 I was scheduled to come pick him up only to find out he was adopted early that day it’s like they just want to play with people emotions if I could give zero stars I would then asked if I would like to look around again like wow

Everybody needs a home. Excellent services for dogs and cats give a loving pet a home today. See my buddy Aaron 🐈🐕🐶🤝

My 16 year old dog, Roxy had been ill for a long time. They euthanized her for me. It was a painful day for me and they were all compassionate and respectful. They are true professionals and I was very grateful for the kindness they extended to both of us.

I just think it’s crazy that they, like every other animal shelter/rescue isn’t taking in anymore dogs. Other counties don’t want residents that don’t reside within the county surrendering dogs to them. I get that they’re full to capacity but that’s not my problem. I pay taxes. County animal shelters are supposed to be of assistance for animals to their residents. This shelter has completely failed in that area. It shouldn’t be this complicated to re-home a puppy. I’m being forced to care for an animal that I don’t want and I can’t find her a new home. It’s unfair for both parties.

They already had it on April 21. Not sure if/when next one.
Yes you definitely can spay todayvhas the records for Pitt County unless you took her yourself. I'm not sure how they register them but spay today was awesome at emailing me all my babies. But since it's through Pitt county you may have to contact them first.
Where was this, because my cat went missing a month ago, and he has a hurt leg. He's a black cat and we live in Greeneville NC in Brook Valley
Monica, the response available would depend on where you live, and what agency jurisdiction you are in. Please call us at 252-902-1726 to give us your address so we can further assist you. Please DO NOT respond to this message and give out your address online, call the office directly
Tonya Dunn, if you live within a city limit, your local police department will be able to assist with this, unless they direct you otherwise. If you live outside of a town or city, in unincorporated areas of the County, you can either call Animal Services directly at 252-902-1725, or submit a Dangerous Dog Investigation Request from our website at: https://www.pittcountync.gov/703/Comprehensive-Animal-Services-Ordinance.
Florence W, as of this reply (July 29, 2019) the entrance is still shared with the Recycling Center. If you drive through the Recycling Center, Animal Services is just behind this, in the yellow building adjacent to the Spay Today clinic. In the coming months a direct access and parking from County Home Road will be soon completed. Feel free to call PCAS at 252-902-1725 if you need further directions.
$20. You must live in Pitt county and must call the morning of to set up an appointment after 1:00 to ensure there is enough space to take the dog.
Please call PCAS directly at 252-902-1726 to discuss options regarding feral cat colonies.
Lyshaunti - To report or request information regarding lost pets, please call the Animal Shelter at 252-902-1725 to speak with a staff member in person. Thank you.
Sofia, volunteers must be at least 16 years of age and have signed parent consent in order to volunteer with Pitt County Animal Services individually. For further information, or any other form of volunteering, please contact PCAS directly at 252-902-1725.
Patsy - What you have heard is only a partial truth, thank you for contacting us directly for the full information! The "three days" is actually just the minimum amount of hold time required by NC state law, and NOT the maximum time we hold an animal before euthanizing them. The sad reality is that most all shelters (even many branded "no kill" shelters) must euthanize for a variety of reasons. While the Pitt County Animal Shelter is no different, we make every attempt to bring positive resolution for the animals in our care, holding them for as long as possible before making the very tough decision to euthanize. You can actually view all of our statistics on how many animals we receive in and send out online at: pittcountync.gov/638/Shelter-Statistics
You must be 18 years of age or older to be employed full time by Pitt County; however volunteers or part-time employees as young as 16 are accepted with parents permission. To learn more about volunteering or part time employment with PCAS, please call us at 252-902-3050.
Yes! PCAS does operate a Pet Fostering Program. A Foster Application is required and must be approved before being allowed to foster a pet. To get an application, please contact the PCAS offices at 252-902-1725. Fostering is needed for: - Animals younger than 6 weeks (often times needing to be bottle fed) - Pets with medical or behavioral issues - Animals waiting for transport to leave for an approved rescue group - Senior pets
No
Shelter is provided. For information regarding this please visit the Pitt County website and click on the "ALERT" link at the top of the page.
Yes! All animals MUST be spayed/neutered before going home with the adopter. All of our dogs are vaccinated with DHPP and Bordetella vaccine upon entry to our shelter. Dogs and puppies have an adoption fee of $110. Cats and kitten have an adoption fee of $85. If the animal is already altered at the time of adoption, they will have a reduced adoption fee and you will be able to take the pet home with you that day. If the animal is not altered at the time of adoption, then we hold the pet overnight and take them to our vet the next business day to be spayed or neutered. For more information, feel free to stop by in person, or just call 252-902-1725. Thanks!
No we cannot give vaccinations to public animals. You will have to contact a veternarians office or check Tractor Supply
No dog does this on purpose. They dog is sick. I hope you have found a home and do not get anymore pets.
There are no limits in the county, however the different cities may have limits. for example the City limits of Greenville has a 3 dog limit.
Not at this time, however both our local Humane Society of Eastern Carolina does and Friends of the Pitt County Shelter (Pitt Friends) does
