I love history and this is a great place to go to. I never realize how big the ironclad ships until I saw the CSS Neuse.

I can't say enough nice about this small museum. It is truly a gem, hidden in the middle of downtown Kinston. This is a must-visit for any resident or visitor interested in the local history.

Had a great time at the museum. we watched a 10min movie about the Neuse and how it made it to the museum. while walking around the museum I learned some really unusual history. Really cool. would love to go back and spend more time in their little town. They have some antique shops and a fire house museum that was closed but one street over is the life size replica of the Neuse. It was open on Saturday. The young man who did our tour was super knowledgeable about the boat civil war history. would spend all day listening to history if I could.

Yes, it provided cannon support during the Battle of Wyse Fork and covered the Confederate retreat from Kinston.
