Questions & Answers

My granddaughter is being sworn in at Memphis Meps my question is who can come and how many can see this process done

Anyone can go and there isn't a limit per se. I wouldn't bring more than 4 or 5 people though. The room isn't super big. Just make sure you don't have any weapons or anything. It is a federal building.

What time do they start letting family in

Depends on whether the person is a) swearing in (new contract) or b) shipping out. For new contract soldiers, the first time they perform the oath of Enlistment, the ceremony may begin as early as 12:30pm or later. Family and friends are encouraged to arrive at 12:00pm to check in and make it to the ceremony on time. This will be the only ceremony for soldiers who elect to join the Reserves. For all soldiers who are shipping on active duty contract, family is asked to be at MEPS at 08:00am. Soldiers will then board transport to the airport. If your soldier enlisted with the Reserves, they report directly to the airport. Family and friends can either meet or transport them to the airport.

A local military installation albeit any service may have an I.D. card office. Check with a nearby reserve or national guard installation.

Can kids attend the ceremony.

Good afternoon Ma'am yes Family is welcome at ceremony. The process for your son may he a little long with physical and enlistment on same day but family can only attend the enlistment ceremony. You can video the ceremony and take pictures afterwards
