No you don't need a medical card. They're worth getting. Your medical cannabis is tax exempt with a card. Bottom line you pay more and can't buy as much product without the card.
Yes, Recreational is legal starting this year. If you get your Medical card, you would be able to purchase more. If you go thru Monterey County Health Department, you can get a State Medical Marijuana ID card, which will save you on taxes. It'll cost you $100 unless you already have a Dr's approval, then it costs you $50.
