Do not come here. The bouncers are insanely rude, aggressive, and outright bad at their jobs. They called Chicago police to a space where queer people are, risking the lives of everyone there. They called the cops after accusing my friend of having a fake ID. After the cops proved it was real, none of my friends were let in. They lost well over 200 $ that night because of their incompetence. Please fire your bouncers so that people who are not white men can feel comfortable and safe at this bar.

Got kicked out after paying for 2 drinks and not even giving them a sip for no reason what so ever? NOT going back EVER... apparently racist staff cause no actual reason was given.

Was really excited to see this place because I had heard such great things. Unfortunately my experience was anything but. We waited in line to get inside around 11:00 and were asked to pay a $25 cover. It was only once we got inside the building that we were told that Smartbar was full and they would not let us wait in the short line they had designated. We had to wait over an hour in the smoking area until there was enough room in line, and then another 30 minutes to get into Smartbar itself. If we had know it would be that long of a wait we would've gone somewhere else. Very deceptive. Music was good.

Depends on the day 25 up to 50's . A place for people who love real music as much as life itself
No. Its in the basement of the builsing down about 20 stairs. No elevator
If they like EDM, they'll love it. Music varies a little based on DJs, especially if there is a fancy guest DJ. So check the website to make sure you're into the music on any particular night. But the crowd is diverse; even so the median age is around 25, I'd say. Don't let that bother you though.
Yes
Yes?
No. Thursday through sunday
DJ lineup changes every weekend. Google smart bar events and they list everything on a ticket website. Metro hosts events too. Depends on promoters. Also their FB.
Shirts and shoes only. Otherwise, no dress code.
Not typically
Not at Smartbar. The liability & responsibility is too much of a hassle. Just grow up.
Depends on the day.. 3rd Thursdays were usually free for drum and bass. Friday and Saturday you should expect a $5+ cover. Check the website or flyers or crew's feeds for specifics for that night.. But, if you are also seeing a show at the Metro (which is above Smartbar) that same night, your ticket to that show gets you into Smartbar free after the Metro show ends or Smartbar opens (in other words, it acts as your cover in that situation)
Yes, any government issues identification, including passports, are fine.
Sometimes establishments leave some tickets available for the door, but generally speaking, SmartBar doesn't. This can be left to stipulations of the musicians, so try calling to double check. Odds are slim though.
