I loved working at Merced behavioral Center for 10 years as a team leader, program counselor, program clerk and weekend supervisor. The facility Administrator, Jeri, and the entire team treated me like family. The atmosphere between the lifelong staff was like home. The departments of Nursing, program, dietary, activities, maintenance, custodial, and the business office all work closely together to ensure a safe environment for the staff and residents. If you have integrity, grit, are a team player and have a passion for helping adults struggling to cope with mental illness, then you will definitely be rewarded and gain valuable experience if you choose to work there. Others will always have complaints but I believe life is what you make of it. Your attitude, approach, and work ethic will determine your success wherever you go. I will say that by advocating for myself, almost as hard as I did for the residents, allowed me to earn a wage I was very happy with. The best part of the job, for me, was making a positive impact in the lives and temporary home of the residents who lived there. Teaching them the benefits of medication for stabilization and how socially acceptable behaviors could ensure their safety in the community. I will never forget how Merced Behavioral Center and the people there touched my life for the better. God Bless them all for their service in our community.

Watch out with staff having other intentions than to help the clients to have a full recovery from drug and alcohol treatment. My wife fully took advantage of my physical illness and mental syndrome with the help of my counselor and they only kept me caught up there even longer with my wife attempts to kill me or have me hurt myself.

The staff was really kind to me but my goodness, they basically take advantage of the patients! I did not want to go there but I had no choice and after I arrived I was put in a room with another problematic person, then on the 2nd day they put me in a bigger facility where I had to share my room with a lunatic, shower in the weirdest bathroom in history, and never received ANY psychiatric counseling! You basically spend your day staring at the walls and thinking about your problems! When I received the bill I was SHOCKED cause they charged me more the $2.000 for only 3 freaking days! For that price they should have put me in a 5 star hotel if they were gonna charge me that much! I really don't know what good that place can do for people! Besides taking advantage of the fact that you tried to commit suicide only to give you another reason do die after receiving the freaking bill!!

Yes BHRS treats dual diagnosis.... BHRS does not bring in NA/AA, although those principles are used. BHRS has a very stict policy about confidentiality.. BHRS has ther own private NA/AA groups, however it is recommended to attend outside groups as part of the program. Hope this helps. If your like more info call(209)381-6800 and ask for The Access Team.
They prescribe medication but you have to go to a pharmacy to get it dispensed. No in-house pharmacy.
