My admission process took about 9 hours. The lack of motivation from the admission office is an outrage. I talked to the staff that actually handle the detox part and they say it's a constant problem. Admissions waits until it's close to shift change before actually doing more than taking basic information, that way they can "pass the work" on to the next shift. I got the impression that the people who handle the admission process don't actually care about doing their jobs well, they're going to do the absolute minimum they have to to not get fired. Their paycheck is the same regardless of if they try or not. After waiting in the lobby for 8 hours I got fed up and demanded my intake be cancelled and my property be returned to me. They tried to pacify me by saying it would be just a few more minutes and I would be taken back. Half hour later nothing else was done and I demanded a bed or my property and had to make a scene in the lobby to get anyone to actually stop playing around on their cell phones and do something. The lack of professionalism from what was once regarded as an excellent facility is a true disappointment. If given a choice, I advise anyone considering River Oaks detox to consider another facility (Odyssey House for example)..

I've been here a few times and each time I go back, it's worse than the time before. Rules are CONSTANTLY changing from one admission to the next, from one shift to the next and even between staff members on the same shift. For trauma patients who need predictability and consistency, this program offers anything but. Groups rarely start on time and groups that are supposed to occur every day seldom do (looking at you, morning and evening check in groups). They are chronically understaffed. The ED patients require a lot of extra time and attention, which is TOTALLY FINE, because I'm glad their needs are being met, but because they require so much, trauma pts are often put on the back burner or forgotten altogether. ED requires the techs to set up, supervise and process every meal and snack, which takes A LOT of time. They also have to be let in their rooms to use the toilet and have it flushed for them. They REALLY need to bring a second or third tech to the unit that is specifically for those needs as no one is available to patients unless you can get a nurse. Re: meds, it varies wildly. Some nurses give meds on schedule, some are late, very late or don't even offer you your meds, then chart you as a "refusal" which doesn't look good to your insurance. Some nurses will give you your meds when you come to the window, while others refuse, insisting that they pull everyone's meds at the same time before dispensing them. I am not taking everyone else's meds, so why do I have to wait for them all to be ready? I shouldn't have to, but it's an ongoing issue that never gets resolved, even though higher ups will tell you they'll look into it. The last few times I've been there, the dietitian has been lacking in her service addressing my dietary needs, sometimes completely falling through on what she promised for the entire three week stay. There is outside time scheduled daily, but actually getting outside seldom happens due to being understaffed or staff preference. Prisoners are even guaranteed daily yard time, so I don't know why they can't make it happen for the trauma unit. Now, there are some good things, however. They do have some stellar staff and the groups offered are pretty helpful, which is why I continue to come back, despite all the other areas they're lacking in. It used to be SUCH a great program, but it has significantly declined with every return.

Who is all? If your talking about this place then there must have been a reason. Ask what did you do to be sent to jail?
This is a awesome detox. Best in the state
Almost anything minus shoestrings and anything containing alcohol, such as mouthwash, etc.. it's a great place if the patient truly wants the care and help... Good luck!
Someone needs to be brought, either by family, friend, own car, cop, or ems.
It depends. Every case is different, but on AVERAGE 3-5 days. Also keep in mind, there are different "substances that are being abused". I'm NO doctor, but please know and understand that YOU WILL NEVER HAVE TO GO THRU THIS (detox) AGAIN!
First of all Anthony, I apologize for your unfortunate experience at River Oaks. That's where my journey began. I'm not sure exactly what y'alls issue was with Admin, but I can and will say IF AN INDIVIDUAL WANTS TO HONESTLY GET CLEAN AND FREE OF THE GORILLA ON THEIR BACK, YOU WILL LET NOTHING OR ANYBODY STAND IN YOUR WAY!!! We have to stop, and think past outside factors rather then BLAMING SOMEONE for Our shortcomings! It's part of the actual working on changing the one thing about our lives and that one thing is EVERYTHING! PLEASE, if you/she REALLY wants to get help, you pick YOURSELF UP and TRY, TRY, TRY AGAIN. Funny how the DEVIL works against us even when we THINK WE'RE DOING RIGHT, and we hit another one of LIFE'S ROAD BLOCKS.... Just know, y'all are NOT ALONE! RIVER OAKS SAVING MY LIFE! I'm still a VERY active outpatient. YOU CAN DO WHATEVER YOU PUT Y'ALLS MIND AND HEARTS INTO...! Chase recovery as hard as you chased that next fix... TRUST ME.. IT'S WORTH IT.
Yes, those are very common diagnoses and they can help you with those. They take most insurance. Call admissions/intake and ask them, they are very helpful and friendly!
Different times for different units. Same with visitation.
3 pairs of clothes (nothing with strings including your shoes), toiletries such as soap,shampoo/conditioner, nothing with alcohol, money (all dollar bills) for snack machine (if possible, if not no worries- they def feed y'all) a coloring book with crayons and/or reading materials, and yourself with an open mind.
Yes, the psychiatrist here (or psychologist, I get these two mixed up) will perscribe meds for you and monitor you while your adjusting. Just be honest and open.
Yes
When I was there a year or so ago, ED patients could not have their cell phones. This may have changed due to Covid and visitors not being allowed. But normally, no cell phones.
Yes there is a adolescent unit
Yes. And they provide you with all basic necessities for hygiene
No. If you want to keep your sweats, hoodies, shoes, etc., you’ll have to remove the drawstrings/laces.
Need to detox
No cell phone. They have have phones you can use. I don't think you can bring any electronics from outside. It is a nice place though. I got lots of help and support.
No
Yes. You have to get the patient's id number. Otherwise, your call will not be transferred.
Nothing. Depending upon the area the patient is being housed in, you can simply visit during their visiting hours. But have your ID with you, of course.
They won't just release her, especially not during the night hours. You can drive there and speak to someone in person. Bring her ID if you have it...
You can visit her tomorrow evening, hours vary depending on what area she's in. You can bring her clothes and toiletries - minus anything with alcohol in or strings attached. Like no shoestrings, waist strings on jogging pants, ect. And alcohol free mouthwash, things like that. Solid deodorant only, no sprays. No rubber hairbands but they do allow scrunchies. Good luck!
It's all on the doctor to decide if he is able to live without being a threat to hisself
I think you'd have to call the admissions desk and ask them...
Drug detoxification is variously the intervention in a case of physical dependence to a drug; the process and experience of a withdrawal syndrome; and any of various treatments for acute drug overdose.
I guess you would have to call the hospital and ask to speak to a social worker about her and see what your options are
They do stay in the hospital as long as needed. At LEAST a week but longer if deemed necessary... I went in for similar issues and they took great care of my situation. Please, rest at ease that he is getting help... Even if he doesn't realize or is unhappy about it.
Yes ma'am and if it's not up to date they reapply you while your there I had to and when I got home I had no bil, they even helped me reapply my son
No they have the hospital phones for you to use
They have art classes and music for therapy. Group meetings this is a good hospital for mental health and addiction treatment. But its just the first step you have to continue treatment when you leave
5 To 7 Days. But, It's Up To The Doctor.
Different Units Have Different Activities. Arts, Crafts, Games, Basketball, Walks, Etc
No. They Can't Use Any Electronics On The Unit.
This does not answer the question. I must say though your friend was a dummy to do such a stupid thing. She wasn't ready to get clean cuz if she was she would have not done what she did. Things like this make me mad cuz there is people out there that is serious about getting clean and really want it but have no beds empty once reason is cuz there is a person in a bed that is wasting the bed cuz they aren't there for the right reasons. Anyhow the question was do they report warrents?
Call
River Oaks has a specialty eating disorders unit that is very comprehensive and has helped countless individuals manage eating disorders. If your daughter is between 12-17, she could also be treated on the adolescent unit.
My husband currently going through the same thing. He is withdrawing and can't stop sweating. He called river oaks 2 weeks ago and still can't get in. This is horrible.
River Oaks DOES NOT DISCRIMINATE against any one!!! We are all people. If your feeling suicidal, I would suggest you EITHER CALL 911 OR seek Emergency Care ASAP!!! It's okay to ask for help! YOUR LIFE IS WORTH IT! I wish you the best of luck and may you find some sort of balance! Just remember, YOUR WORTH IT.
It depends. You will need their patient number and the building they are in. I know during the week i think it's from 630-730pm??? (I apologize, i can't completely be sure. But depending on patients building. And then on weekends- there are 2 diff time segments. I first one i think at 1-2pm as then again at 6pm 7. I suggest you call up to River Oaks DIRECTLY- so u don't "waste" any y'alls time or provide inaccurate info! Good luck! Hope things go well! In my prayers!
No you can show up and if they have a bed they take you
