I got married in April and just received my license back from the office to fill it out again after calling them over the course of several weeks and getting no real answer and whenever you call the marriage license office you never get an answer. I wish I would have gotten married in any other state. Very unprofessional. If you do want to get married in New Orleans I suggest getting legally married in another state and just having the ceremony in New Orleans. Dealing with this department has been such a nightmare. If I could give it negative starts I would.

This place literally makes me regret having my son in Louisiana. They don't follow COURT ORDERS! They are above a judge now?? And even more ridiculous that I ordered my son's birth certificate back in May and still waiting almost 3 months later. Louisiana government needs to get it together!
Do I need to come to new Orleans to pick up a birth certificate or is there some place in baton rouge I can get it?

Good luck. it's been 7 months since my wife passed and still don't have it. The first one, the social security number was wrong, so the funeral home I went through submitted a letter of correction to the state in September 2021. (1 month after her passing) I spoke to the funeral home this morning, February 10, 2022 and they're telling me it could take another 3 months. I was told back in October that it's going to take 6-8 weeks. Completely unacceptable. I'm gonna contact with my congressman on Monday if I don't get an acceptable update.
Is it possible to physically pickup my dad's Death Certificate at your office in New Orleans. He died in 1997.

It cost around 15 bucks you can order it and pick it up. They will send an email saying that it's ready for pick up. You will have 50 business days to pick it up before they mail it out to you.

You will need identification, if you need an actual copy in hand it would be best to go fo the Gretna Court House at 100 Huey P Long Avenue or David Drive in Metairie. Otherwise go on line to Datachek input all information pay for the copy then make an appointment for pickup on Poydras.

Yes but you must go to vitalrecords.com, place the order and choose the will call option. They will send you an email once it's ready for pickup. It takes about a week and a half. You can no longer just walk in due to COVID restrictions. You can call vitsl records as well and they can guide you.

I just recently ordered a copy of my birth certificate. I was told by the rep. to placed my order on their website (vitalchex.com). You have to answer all pertinent questions and pay for your order with your debit/credit card; no cash! Then, in 7-10 days; they will send you an email notifying you to pick up your order. If that social worker told you something different; i advise you to file a dispute with your bank or credit card company. And, also, file a complaint with vital records. Hope this help and sorry for this unfortunate setback for you.

You will need some form of identification..so my advice would be if you have your social security card take it to the dmv with a letter or some type of government letter or document to get your ID then come back with the ID,your SS Card,And proof of residency and they will print you one within minutes. $15 per copy needed.(cash,money order,or debit card)

Yes because they will go by your last name and put your husbands name on the birth certificate but only if the father of your child does not sign the birth certificate papers at the hospital. I know because it happened to me! I put down that I was still legally married but separated for many years and that didn't work so put single you have to lie hope this is not to late??
