I could not believe the experience. Contrary to what others have posted, I was in and out in 14 minute. No appointment made, though I had called. I arrived at 0847hrs. There were two people ahead of me, waiting for opening time at 0900hrs. I was there for a replacement SS card. I filled out the form online (easy), printed the necessary paper, and brought it with me. There were only two problems. One, the elevators were confusing, as none stopped on the fifth floor. I finally found the elevator that went to the fifth floor. Two, right before the office opened, someone broke in the front of the line, and there was a verbal altercation. The staff in the office were professional, helpful, and friendly. 400 Poydras St, New Orleans office.

I did not receive my benefits, call the office , waited on line over three hours, did not speak to anyone. Still have not received my benefit, late paying my bill. Whey, to go The United States Goverment.

I've been working on helping my friend get a replacement SS card for almost a year. You CANNOT get an appointment - they instruct you to download the form, fill it out, and leave it at the office WITH YOUR ID. So the person on the phone recommended they download LA Wallet, and when the form is processed, they will mail the ID back to applicant. The ID will come back from the New Orleans office (hopefully in 7 to ten days, but they are backlogged), and the CC card will come through the mail from Maryland. Probably three weeks to get the replacement SS card.

It depends. You might have to go see your primary care doctor and they have to write a letter saying your capabili of handling your benefits..
Just call the local number for the office on Poydras Street. They are by appointment only, but only for certain things. If you need something like a new SSN card, you can request yours online; if for someone else, you'll have to fill out the application online, print it, get your supporting documents and deliver the information to them at the Poydras location. Or you can mail it, but it's quicker if you deliver it.
